A man had two sons. He put a fence around it, dug a pit for its winepress, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it to tenant farmers and went on a journey.When the harvest time was near, he sent his slaves to the tenants to collect his portion of the crop.But the tenants seized his slaves, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.Again he sent other slaves, more than the first, and they treated them the same way.Finally he sent his son to them, saying,‘ They will respect my son.’But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves,‘ This is the heir. This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?For this reason I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.The one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, and the one on whom it falls will be crushed.”When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they realized that he was speaking about them.They wanted to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowds, because the crowds regarded him as a prophet.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us( because it is written,“ Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”)

Noah built an altar to the LORD. He then took some of every kind of clean animal and clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

Now the passage of scripture the man was reading was this:“ He was led like a sheep to slaughter, and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth.

But he lifted up our illnesses, he carried our pain; even though we thought he was being punished, attacked by God, and afflicted for something he had done.He was wounded because of our rebellious deeds, crushed because of our sins; he endured punishment that made us well; because of his wounds we have been healed.All of us had wandered off like sheep; each of us had strayed off on his own path, but the LORD caused the sin of all of us to attack him.He was treated harshly and afflicted, but he did not even open his mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughtering block, like a sheep silent before her shearers, he did not even open his mouth.He was led away after an unjust trial– but who even cared? Indeed, he was cut off from the land of the living; because of the rebellion of his own people he was wounded.They intended to bury him with criminals, but he ended up in a rich man’s tomb, because he had committed no violent deeds, nor had he spoken deceitfully.Though the LORD desired to crush him and make him ill, once restitution is made, he will see descendants and enjoy long life, and the LORD’s purpose will be accomplished through him.

but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, by looking like other men, and by sharing in human nature.He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death– even death on a cross!

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac. He had received the promises, yet he was ready to offer up his only son.God had told him,“ Through Isaac descendants will carry on your name,”and he reasoned that God could even raise him from the dead, and in a sense he received him back from there.

This is why the Father loves me– because I lay down my life, so that I may take it back again.No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down of my own free will. I have the authority to lay it down, and I have the authority to take it back again. This commandment I received from my Father.”

The LORD appeared to Abram and said,“ To your descendants I will give this land.” So Abram built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.

and live in love, just as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.

Early in the morning, after forming a plan, the chief priests with the elders and the experts in the law and the whole Sanhedrin tied Jesus up, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate.

so also, after Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many, to those who eagerly await him he will appear a second time, not to bear sin but to bring salvation.

The LORD is God and he has delivered us. Tie the offering with ropes to the horns of the altar!

God said,“ Take your son– your only son, whom you love, Isaac– and go to the land of Moriah! Offer him up there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will indicate to you.”Early in the morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took two of his young servants with him, along with his son Isaac. When he had cut the wood for the burnt offering, he started out for the place God had spoken to him about.On the third day Abraham caught sight of the place in the distance.

She has done a good service for me.For you will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me!When she poured this oil on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”Then one of the twelve, the one named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priestsand said,“ What will you give me to betray him into your hands?” So they set out thirty silver coins for him.From that time on, Judas began looking for an opportunity to betray him.Now on the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and said,“ Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?”He said,“ Go into the city to a certain man and tell him,‘ The Teacher says,“ My time is near. I will observe the Passover with my disciples at your house.”’”So the disciples did as Jesus had instructed them, and they prepared the Passover.When it was evening, he took his place at the table with the twelve.And while they were eating he said,“ I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me.”They became greatly distressed and each one began to say to him,“ Surely not I, Lord?”He answered,“ The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me.The Son of Man will go as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for him if he had never been born.”Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said,“ Surely not I, Rabbi?” Jesus replied,“ You have said it yourself.”While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it, gave it to his disciples, and said,“ Take, eat, this is my body.”And after taking the cup and giving thanks, he gave it to them, saying,“ Drink from it, all of you,
