亚伯拉罕清早起来，拿饼和一皮袋水，给了夏甲，搭在她肩上，把她和孩子一起送走。夏甲就走了，但她却在别是巴的旷野流浪。

坚心倚赖你的，你必保守他十分平安，因为他倚靠你。你们当倚靠耶和华，直到永远，因为耶和华，耶和华是永远的磐石。

彼得就对他说：“看哪，我们已经撇下一切跟从你了。”耶稣说：“我实在告诉你们，凡为我和福音撇下房屋，或是兄弟、姊妹、父亲、母亲、儿女、田地，没有不在今世得百倍的，就是房屋、兄弟、姊妹、母亲、儿女、田地，并且要受迫害，在来世得永生。然而，有许多在前的，将要在后；在后的，将要在前。”

爱父母胜过爱我的，不配作我的门徒；爱儿女胜过爱我的，不配作我的门徒。

凡你手所当做的事，要尽力去做；因为在你所必须去的阴间没有工作，没有谋算，没有知识，也没有智慧。

因着信，亚伯拉罕被考验的时候把以撒献上，这就是那领受了应许的人甘心把自己独生的儿子献上。论到这儿子，上帝曾说：“从以撒生的才要称为你的后裔。”他认为上帝甚至能使人从死人中复活，意味着他得回了他的儿子。

在那一天，亚伯拉罕遵照上帝所说的，给他的儿子以实玛利和家里所有的男丁，无论是在家里生的，或是用银子买来的，都行了割礼。
