我毫不遲疑地遵守你的命令。

上帝既然樂意把祂的兒子啟示給我，叫我向外族人傳揚祂的福音，我就沒有跟任何人商量，

亞伯拉罕因為有信心，聽到上帝的呼召後，就遵命前往他將要承受為產業的地方，但他出發的時候還不知道自己要去哪裡。

第二天，亞伯拉罕清早起來，把食物和一皮袋水放在夏甲肩上，讓她和孩子離開。夏甲在別示巴的曠野流浪。

你使堅信不移的人全然平安，因為他們信靠你。要永遠信靠耶和華，因為耶和華是永遠屹立的磐石。

彼得說：「你看，我們已經撇下一切來跟從你了。」耶穌說：「我實在告訴你們，任何人為了我和福音而撇下房屋、弟兄、姊妹、父母、兒女或田地，今世必在房屋、弟兄、姊妹、父母、兒女或田地方面獲得百倍的回報，來世必得永生。當然他也會受到迫害。然而，許多為首的將要殿後，殿後的將要為首。」

「愛父母過於愛我的人不配作我的門徒；愛兒女過於愛我的人不配作我的門徒；

凡你的手能做的，都要盡力去做，因為在你要去的陰間沒有工作，沒有計劃，也沒有知識和智慧。

亞伯拉罕被試驗時憑信心把以撒獻為祭物，承受應許的亞伯拉罕當時獻上了自己的獨生子。論到這兒子，上帝曾說：「以撒生的才可算為你的後裔。」他認定上帝能使死人復活，從象徵意義上說，他也確實從死亡中得回了以撒。

亞伯拉罕就在那天照著上帝的吩咐，為兒子以實瑪利和家中所有的男子，不論是在家中出生的，還是買回來的，都行了割禮。
