indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand, which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies.

我必大賚爾福祉、昌熾爾子孫、如天星之眾多、如海沙之無量、爾子孫將勝諸敵、

必賜福於爾、使爾後裔眾多、如天上之星、如海濱之沙、爾後裔必得敵之城邑為業、

I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies,

So I will certainly bless you. I will make the children born into your family as many as the stars in the sky. I will make them as many as the grains of sand on the seashore. They will take over the cities of their enemies.

I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies,

I will certainly bless you. I will multiply your descendants beyond number, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will conquer the cities of their enemies.

And He took him outside and said,“ Now look toward the heavens and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” And He said to him,“ So shall your descendants be.”

And they blessed Rebekah and said to her,“ May you, our sister, Become thousands of ten thousands, And may your descendants possess The gate of those who hate them.”

I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and will give your descendants all these lands; and by your descendants all the nations of the earth shall be blessed,

As the heavenly lights cannot be counted, and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of My servant David and the Levites who serve Me.’ ”

Ask it of Me, and I will certainly give the nations as Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth as Your possession.You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.’ ”

The Lord your God has multiplied you, and behold, you are this day like the stars of heaven in number.

Now it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying,“ Moses My servant is dead; so now arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.Every place on which the sole of your foot steps, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses.From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory.No one will be able to oppose you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not desert you nor abandon you.Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the Law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may achieve success wherever you go.This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will achieve success.Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

May he also rule from sea to sea, And from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.May the nomads of the desert bow before him, And his enemies lick the dust.

I see him, but not now; I look at him, but not near; A star shall appear from Jacob, A scepter shall rise from Israel, And shall smash the forehead of Moab, And overcome all the sons of Sheth.And Edom shall be a possession, Seir, its enemies, also will be a possession, While Israel performs valiantly.One from Jacob shall rule, And will eliminate the survivors from the city.”

For You said,‘ I will assuredly make you prosper and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which is too great to be counted.’ ”

Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying,“ The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.”

And all these blessings will come to you and reach you if you obey the Lord your God:“ Blessed will you be in the city, and blessed will you be in the country.“ Blessed will be the children of your womb, the produce of your ground, and the offspring of your animals: the newborn of your herd and the young of your flock.“ Blessed will be your basket and your kneading bowl.“ Blessed will you be when you come in, and blessed will you be when you go out.“ The Lord will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated by you; they will go out against you one way and will flee at your presence seven ways.The Lord will command the blessing for you in your barns and in everything that you put your hand to, and He will bless you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, as He swore to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways.So all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will be afraid of you.And the Lord will give you more than enough prosperity, in the children of your womb, in the offspring of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you.The Lord will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless every work of your hand; and you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow.And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will only be above, and not be underneath, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord your God which I am commanding you today, to follow them carefully,

“ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people,And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David—Just as He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient times—Salvation from our enemies, And from the hand of all who hate us;To show mercy to our fathers, And to remember His holy covenant,The oath which He swore to our father Abraham,To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, Would serve Him without fear,In holiness and righteousness before Him all our days.

but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

From the God of your father who helps you, And by the Almighty who blesses you With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that lies beneath, Blessings of the breasts and of the womb.The blessings of your father Have surpassed the blessings of my ancestors Up to the furthest boundary of the everlasting hills; May they be on the head of Joseph, And on the top of the head of the one distinguished among his brothers.

Now may God give you of the dew of heaven, And of the fatness of the earth, And an abundance of grain and new wine;May peoples serve you, And nations bow down to you; Be master of your brothers, And may your mother’s sons bow down to you. Cursed be those who curse you, And blessed be those who bless you.”

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

and You gave them this land, which You swore to their forefathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.

May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, so that you may become a multitude of peoples.

And I will make you into a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing;

King Solomon also built a fleet of ships in Ezion geber, which is near Eloth on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.

Now it happened afterward that David defeated the Philistines and subdued them; and David took control of the chief city from the hand of the Philistines.And He defeated Moab, and measured them with the line, making them lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and a full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute.Then David defeated Hadadezer, the son of Rehob king of Zobah, as he went to restore his power at the Euphrates River.And David captured from him 1,700 horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers; and David hamstrung almost all the chariot horses, but left enough of them for a hundred chariots.When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David killed twenty two thousand men among the Arameans.Then David put garrisons among the Arameans of Damascus, and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And the Lord helped David wherever he went.David took the shields of gold which were carried by the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.And from Betah and Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a very large amount of bronze.Now when Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of Hadadezer,Toi sent his son Joram to King David to greet him and bless him, because he had fought Hadadezer and defeated him; for Hadadezer had been at war with Toi. And Joram brought with him articles of silver, gold, and bronze.King David also consecrated these gifts to the Lord, with the silver and gold that he had consecrated from all the nations which he had subdued:from Aram, Moab, the sons of Ammon, the Philistines, Amalek, and from the spoils of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.So David made a name for himself when he returned from killing eighteen thousand Arameans in the Valley of Salt.He also put garrisons in Edom. In all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the Lord helped David wherever he went.So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered justice and righteousness for all his people.Joab the son of Zeruiah was commander over the army, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was secretary.Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, and Seraiah was scribe.Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief ministers.

I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you.

then his father and mother shall seize him, and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gateway of his hometown.

For her wound is incurable, For it has come to Judah; It has reached the gate of my people, Even to Jerusalem.

Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed.Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said,“ The Lord is certainly in this place, and I did not know it!”And he was afraid and said,“ How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”So Jacob got up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had placed as a support for his head, and set it up as a memorial stone, and poured oil on its top.Then he named that place Bethel; but previously the name of the city had been Luz.Jacob also made a vow, saying,“ If God will be with me and will keep me on this journey that I take, and give me food to eat and garments to wear,and I return to my father’s house in safety, then the Lord will be my God.And this stone, which I have set up as a memorial stone, will be God’s house, and of everything that You give me I will assuredly give a tenth to You.”

Now it happened afterward that the king of the Ammonites died, and his son Hanun became king in his place.Then David said,“ I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent some of his servants to console him about his father. But when David’s servants came to the land of the Ammonites,the commanders of the Ammonites said to their lord Hanun,“ Do you think that David is simply honoring your father since he has sent you servants to console you? Has David not sent his servants to you in order to explore the city, to spy it out and overthrow it?”So Hanun took David’s servants and shaved off half of their beards, and cut off their robes in the middle as far as their buttocks, and sent them away.When messengers informed David, he sent servants to meet them, because the men were extremely humiliated. And the king said,“ Stay in Jericho until your beards grow back, and then you shall return.”Now when the sons of Ammon saw that they had become repulsive to David, the sons of Ammon sent messengers and hired the Arameans of Beth rehob and the Arameans of Zobah, twenty thousand foot soldiers, and the king of Maacah with a thousand men, and the men of Tob with twelve thousand men.When David heard about this, he sent Joab and all the army, the warriors.And the sons of Ammon came out and lined up for battle at the entrance of the city, while the Arameans of Zobah and of Rehob and the men of Tob and Maacah were stationed by themselves in the field.Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him at the front and at the rear, he selected warriors from all the choice men in Israel, and lined them up against the Arameans.But the remainder of the people he placed under the command of his brother Abishai, and he lined them up against the sons of Ammon.And he said,“ If the Arameans are too strong for me, then you shall help me; but if the sons of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will come to help you.Be strong, and let’s show ourselves courageous for the sake of our people and the cities of our God; and may the Lord do what is good in His sight.”So Joab and the people who were with him advanced to the battle against the Arameans, and they fled from him.When the sons of Ammon saw that the Arameans had fled, they also fled from Abishai and entered the city. Then Joab returned from fighting against the sons of Ammon and came to Jerusalem.When the Arameans saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they assembled together.And Hadadezer sent word and brought out the Arameans who were beyond the Euphrates River, and they came to Helam; and Shobach the commander of the army of Hadadezer led them.Now when it was reported to David, he gathered all Israel together and crossed the Jordan, and came to Helam. And the Arameans lined up against David and fought him.But the Arameans fled from Israel, and David killed seven hundred charioteers of the Arameans and forty thousand horsemen, and struck Shobach the commander of their army, and he died there.When all the kings, servants of Hadadezer, saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with Israel and served them. So the Arameans were afraid to help the sons of Ammon anymore.

And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.Just as you saw that a stone was broken off from the mountain without hands, and that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what will take place in the future; so the dream is certain and its interpretation is trustworthy.”
