and said,“ I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,

and said,“‘ I solemnly swear by my own name,’ decrees the LORD,‘ that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,

and said,“‘ I have sworn by myself,’ says Yahweh,‘ because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,

就是他對我們祖宗亞伯拉罕所起的誓－

就是與亞伯拉罕所立的約，向以撒所起的誓。

當初神應許亞伯拉罕的時候，因為沒有比自己更大可以指着起誓的，就指着自己起誓，說：「論福，我必賜大福給你；論子孫，我必叫你的子孫多起來。」

耶和華說：「我指着自己起誓，波斯拉必令人驚駭、羞辱、咒詛，並且荒涼。她的一切城邑必變為永遠的荒場。」

我必叫你成為大國。我必賜福給你，叫你的名為大；你也要叫別人得福。

因為神應許亞伯拉罕和他後裔，必得承受世界，不是因律法，乃是因信而得的義。若是屬乎律法的人才得為後嗣，信就歸於虛空，應許也就廢棄了。

萬軍之耶和華指着自己起誓說：我必使敵人充滿你，像螞蚱一樣；他們必吶喊攻擊你。

我指着自己起誓，我口所出的話是憑公義，並不返回：萬膝必向我跪拜；萬口必憑我起誓。

主耶和華－萬軍之神指着自己起誓說：我憎惡雅各的榮華，厭棄他的宮殿；因此，我必將城和其中所有的都交付敵人。
