就是祂对我们的先祖亚伯拉罕所起的誓，

就是祂与亚伯拉罕所立的约，向以撒所起的誓。

当初，上帝向亚伯拉罕许下诺言的时候，因为没有比自己更大的可以凭着起誓，就凭自己起誓说：“我必赐福给你，使你子孙众多。”

因为我已凭自己起誓，波斯拉必沦为废墟，令人惊惧，被人嘲笑和咒诅。它周围的村镇要永远荒凉。这是耶和华说的。”

我必使你成为大国，我必赐福给你，使你声名远播。你必成为别人的祝福。

上帝应许将世界赐给亚伯拉罕和他的后裔，不是因为亚伯拉罕遵行了律法，而是因为他因信而成了义人。如果只有遵行律法的人才可以承受应许，信心就没有价值，上帝的应许也就落了空。

万军之耶和华凭自己起誓说：“我要使敌人如蝗虫一样铺天盖地而来，占据你们的家园，欢呼胜利。”

我凭自己起誓，我口中的话真实可靠，绝不更改，‘万膝必向我跪拜，万口必起誓效忠于我。’

万军之上帝——主耶和华凭自己起誓：“我憎恶雅各的骄傲，厌弃他的城堡。我要把城和城中的一切都交给敌人。”
