And Sarah declared,“ God has brought me laughter. All who hear about this will laugh with me.

撒拉說：「上帝使我歡笑，凡聽見這事的人也必跟我一同歡笑。

撒拉說：“神使我歡笑，凡聽見的，也必為我歡笑。”

撒拉說：『上帝使我喜笑；凡聽見的也必為了我而喜笑。』

撒拉說：「神使我歡笑，所有聽見的人也必與我一同歡笑。」

撒拉曰、上帝使我笑、凡聞之者、將與我同笑、

撒拉曰、上帝使我粲然而笑、聞者將與我粲然而笑。

撒拉曰、天主使我喜笑、凡聞之者必偕我喜笑、

Sarah said,“ God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.”

Sarah said,“ God has given laughter to me. Everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.”

And Sarah said,“ God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh over me.”

Sarah said,“ God has made me laugh, and everyone who hears will laugh with me.”

Sarah said,“ God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me.”

And Sarah said,“ God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me.”

And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh; every one that heareth will laugh with me.

Sarah said,“ God has made me laugh, and everyone who hears will laugh with me.”

And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh,[ so that] all that hear will laugh with me.

Sarah said,“ God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.”

Sarah said,“ God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears will laugh with me.”

“ Sing, O childless woman, you who have never given birth! Break into loud and joyful song, O Jerusalem, you who have never been in labor. For the desolate woman now has more children than the woman who lives with her husband,” says the Lord.

We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said,“ What amazing things the Lord has done for them.”

Then Abraham bowed down to the ground, but he laughed to himself in disbelief.“ How could I become a father at the age of 100?” he thought.“ And how can Sarah have a baby when she is ninety years old?”

He gives the childless woman a family, making her a happy mother. Praise the Lord!

It will be like a woman suffering the pains of labor. When her child is born, her anguish gives way to joy because she has brought a new baby into the world.So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy.

You will have great joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth,

Then you will think to yourself,‘ Who has given me all these descendants? For most of my children were killed, and the rest were carried away into exile. I was left here all alone. Where did all these people come from? Who bore these children? Who raised them for me?’”

“ Sir, do you remember me?” Hannah asked.“ I am the very woman who stood here several years ago praying to the Lord.I asked the Lord to give me this boy, and he has granted my request.Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will belong to the Lord his whole life.” And they worshiped the Lord there.Then Hannah prayed:“ My heart rejoices in the Lord! The Lord has made me strong. Now I have an answer for my enemies; I rejoice because you rescued me.No one is holy like the Lord! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.“ Stop acting so proud and haughty! Don’t speak with such arrogance! For the Lord is a God who knows what you have done; he will judge your actions.The bow of the mighty is now broken, and those who stumbled are now strong.Those who were well fed are now starving, and those who were starving are now full. The childless woman now has seven children, and the woman with many children wastes away.The Lord gives both death and life; he brings some down to the grave but raises others up.The Lord makes some poor and others rich; he brings some down and lifts others up.He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the Lord’s, and he has set the world in order.“ He will protect his faithful ones, but the wicked will disappear in darkness. No one will succeed by strength alone.Those who fight against the Lord will be shattered. He thunders against them from heaven; the Lord judges throughout the earth. He gives power to his king; he increases the strength of his anointed one.”

So she laughed silently to herself and said,“ How could a worn out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master— my husband— is also so old?”Then the Lord said to Abraham,“ Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say,‘ Can an old woman like me have a baby?’Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”Sarah was afraid, so she denied it, saying,“ I didn’t laugh.” But the Lord said,“ No, you did laugh.”

And when her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had been very merciful to her, everyone rejoiced with her.

Mary responded,“ Oh, how my soul praises the Lord.How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed.For the Mighty One is holy, and he has done great things for me.He shows mercy from generation to generation to all who fear him.His mighty arm has done tremendous things! He has scattered the proud and haughty ones.He has brought down princes from their thrones and exalted the humble.He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with empty hands.He has helped his servant Israel and remembered to be merciful.For he made this promise to our ancestors, to Abraham and his children forever.”

Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.

It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise.

As Isaiah said,“ Rejoice, O childless woman, you who have never given birth! Break into a joyful shout, you who have never been in labor! For the desolate woman now has more children than the woman who lives with her husband!”And you, dear brothers and sisters, are children of the promise, just like Isaac.

“ Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you!
