到明年所定的時候，撒拉必為你生以撒，我要與他堅立我的約。」

上帝說：「不！你妻子撒拉必為你生一個兒子，你要給他起名叫以撒。我要與他堅立我的約，成為他後裔永遠的約。

耶和華豈有難成的事嗎？到了所定的時候，我必回到你這裏。明年這時候，撒拉會生一個兒子。」

上帝又賜他割禮的約。於是亞伯拉罕生了以撒，在第八日給他行了割禮；後來以撒生雅各，雅各生十二位先祖。

有一位說：「明年這時候，我一定會回到你這裏。看哪，你的妻子撒拉會生一個兒子。」撒拉在那人後面的帳棚門口也聽見了。

因為所應許的話是這樣：「到明年這時候我要來，撒拉必會生一個兒子。」

這些日子以後，他的妻子伊利莎白就懷孕，隱藏了五個月；她說：「主在眷顧我的日子，這樣看顧我，要除掉我在人前的羞恥。」

況且，你的親戚伊利莎白，就是那素來稱為不生育的，在年老的時候也懷了男胎，現在懷孕六個月了。

以利沙說：「明年這時候，你必抱一個兒子。」她說：「神人，我主啊，不要這樣欺哄婢女。」婦人果然懷孕，到了明年那時候，生了一個兒子，正如以利沙向她所說的。
