上帝说：“不！你妻子撒拉必为你生一个儿子，你要给他起名叫以撒。我要与他坚立我的约，成为他后裔永远的约。

耶和华岂有难成的事吗？到了所定的时候，我必回到你这里。明年这时候，撒拉会生一个儿子。”

上帝又赐他割礼的约。于是亚伯拉罕生了以撒，在第八日给他行了割礼；后来以撒生雅各，雅各生十二位先祖。

有一位说：“明年这时候，我一定会回到你这里。看哪，你的妻子撒拉会生一个儿子。”撒拉在那人后面的帐棚门口也听见了。

因为所应许的话是这样：“到明年这时候我要来，撒拉必会生一个儿子。”

这些日子以后，他的妻子伊利莎白就怀孕，隐藏了五个月；她说：“主在眷顾我的日子，这样看顾我，要除掉我在人前的羞耻。”

况且，你的亲戚伊利莎白，就是那素来称为不生育的，在年老的时候也怀了男胎，现在怀孕六个月了。

以利沙说：“明年这时候，你必抱一个儿子。”她说：“神人，我主啊，不要这样欺哄婢女。”妇人果然怀孕，到了明年那时候，生了一个儿子，正如以利沙向她所说的。
