而他們的眼力卻被抑制着，以致不認得他。耶穌問他們說：『你們走路的時候，彼此計較的這些事是甚麼事呢？』他們就站着，面帶愁容。其中的一個名叫革流巴、回答耶穌說：『你是單身僑居在耶路撒冷，而不知道這幾天在那裏所發生的事麼？』耶穌問他們說：『甚麼事啊？』他們對耶穌說：『關於拿撒勒人耶穌的事啊。他是個神言人，在上帝和眾民面前，行為言語都有能力；祭司長和我們的議員怎樣把他送去，定了死罪，釘他十字架。我們呢、卻盼望那將要釋放以色列的就是他。可是呢——不但如此，這些事發生，已到了第三日這一天了。並且我們中間有幾個婦女、也真地使我們驚奇；她們清早在墳墓那裏；見不着耶穌的身體，就來，說她們竟看見了天使的顯象；天使說耶穌還活着。我們的同伴有幾個人往墳墓那裏去。所遇見的果然像婦女們所說的；至於耶穌呢、他們卻沒有看見。』耶穌就對他們說：『咳，無知的人哪，對神言人所說的一切話、心遲笨而難信的人哪！基督受這些苦，而進入他的榮耀，豈不是應該的麼？』就開始從摩西、從眾神言人起、把全部經典裏所記關於自己的事、都給他們解釋了。將近他們所要去的村子，耶穌略作要往前走的樣子。他們卻強留他說：『請同我們住下吧，因為將近晚上了，日頭已經平西了。』耶穌就進去，要同他們住下。正同他們坐席的時候，耶穌就拿着餅、祝頌擘開，遞給他們。他們的眼睛敞開了，這才認出他來；而耶穌竟從他們眼前不見了。

那時瞎子的眼就會開，聾子的耳就通透。那時瘸子必跳躍像鹿，啞巴的舌頭必能歡呼。曠野必有水暴出，原野必有溪河湧流。
