彼在曠野荒墟、迷失路途、不遇人居之城邑、

遂名之曰是巴、故其邑名別是巴、至於今日、○

其由婢生者、循血氣而生、其由自主之婦生者、因應許而生、斯可為譬、二婦譬二約、一約自西乃山而傳、使人為奴、即夏甲、此夏甲、乃指亞拉伯之西乃山、猶今之耶路撒冷、彼與其諸子皆為奴、

亞伯拉罕夙興、備驢、攜二僕、及子以撒、為火焚祭劈柴、啟行以往天主所示之處、

希實本之田、施伯瑪之葡萄樹、悉焦枯、曩昔枝條延及雅塞、蔓至曠野、枝幹舒長至於鹽海、今列國之牧伯、盡行毀折、

以二人在彼相誓、故名其地曰別是巴、別示巴譯即盟誓井之義

亞伯拉罕植林於別是巴、在彼禱告永生耶和華天主之名、

亞伯拉罕夙興、至昔覲主之處、

天奴不永居於家、而子則永居、

我遵守主之誡命、迅速不敢遲延、

主之使者遇之於野、在泉旁、其泉在書珥之道、

以利亞睹斯景況、或作以利亞懼遂起逃遁以保生命、至猶大之別是巴而留其僕、

亞伯拉罕返至僕所、俱起同行、至別是巴、亞伯拉罕遂居之、○

僕與從者飲食而宿、夙興、曰、願遣我歸我主人、
