Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy. She went on her way and wandered in the Desert of Beersheba.

凡是你手可作的，都當盡力去作；因為在你所要去的陰間裡，既沒有工作，又沒有籌謀；沒有知識，也沒有智慧。

以色列帶著他所有的一切起程，到了別是巴，就向他父親以撒的神獻祭。

清晨起來大聲為鄰舍祝福的，就等於是咒詛他。

有人遇見約瑟在田間迷了路，就問他說：“你找甚麼？”

亞伯拉罕把禮物分給他庶出的眾子，在自己還活著的時候，就打發他們離開他的兒子以撒，向東面行，往東方的地去。

第二天，他們清早起來，彼此起誓；以撒就送他們走，他們平平安安地離開他走了。

以掃帶著他的眾妻子、兒女和家中所有的人，以及他的牲畜、所有的牲口和他在迦南地所得的一切財產，離開他的弟弟雅各到別的地方去了。因為他們都有很多財物，所以不能住在一起；又因他們牲畜很多的緣故，他們寄居的地方也容不下他們。

他們有些人在曠野、在荒漠飄流，尋不見路往可居住的城巿。

以撒就給那井起名叫示巴，因此那城名叫別是巴，直到今日。

但那出於婢女的，是按著肉體生的；那出於自由的婦人的，是憑著應許生的。這都是寓意的說法：那兩個婦人就是兩個約，一個是出於西奈山，生子作奴僕，這是夏甲。這夏甲是指著阿拉伯的西奈山，相當於現在的耶路撒冷，她和她的兒女都是作奴僕的。

亞伯拉罕清早起來，預備好了驢，帶著兩個童僕和自己的兒子以撒，也劈好了獻燔祭用的柴，就起程到神指示他的地方去。

因為希實本的田地和西比瑪的葡萄樹都衰殘了，它們美好的枝子曾醉倒了列國的君主。它的嫩枝直達雅謝，蔓延到曠野，又向外伸展，越過鹽海。

因此那地方名叫別是巴，因為他們二人在那裡起了誓。

亞伯拉罕在別是巴栽了一棵垂絲柳樹，就在那裡求告耶和華永活的神的名。

亞伯拉罕清早起來，到他從前站在耶和華面前的地方，

奴隸不能永遠住在家裡，唯有兒子才可以永遠住在家裡。

我趕快謹守你的命令，不敢耽延。

耶和華的使者在曠野的水泉旁邊，就是在到書珥路上的水旁邊，遇到了她，

以利亞害怕，就起來，逃命去了。他到了猶大的別是巴，就把自己的僕人留在那裡。

亞伯拉罕回到他的童僕那裡；他們就起程，一起到別是巴去了；亞伯拉罕就住在別是巴。

然後，僕人和與他同來的人才吃喝，並且住了一夜。他們早晨起來，僕人就說：“請打發我回到我主人那裡去吧！”
