and she said to Abraham,“ Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac.”

Sarah said to Abraham,“ Get rid of that slave woman! Get rid of her son! That woman’s son will never have a share of the family’s property. All of it belongs to my son Isaac.”

So she said to Abraham,“ Cast out this slave woman with her son, for the son of this slave woman shall not be heir with my son Isaac.”

So she turned to Abraham and demanded,“ Get rid of that slave woman and her son. He is not going to share the inheritance with my son, Isaac. I won’t have it!”

So she said to Abraham,“ Drive out this slave with her son, for the son of this slave will not be a coheir with my son Isaac!”

Therefore she said to Abraham,“ Drive out this slave woman and her son, for the son of this slave woman shall not be an heir with my son Isaac!”

Therefore she said to Abraham,“ Cast out this bondwoman and her son; for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, namely with Isaac.”

Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this handmaid and her son: for the son of this handmaid shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.

So she said to Abraham,“ Drive out this slave with her son, for the son of this slave will not be a coheir with my son Isaac!”

Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son,[ even] with Isaac.

So she said to Abraham,“ Banish that slave woman and her son, for the son of that slave woman will not be an heir along with my son Isaac!”

Therefore she said to Abraham,“ Cast out this servant and her son! For the son of this servant will not be heir with my son, Isaac.”

For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman.His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.These things are being taken figuratively: The women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar.Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children.But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.For it is written:“ Be glad, barren woman, you who never bore a child; shout for joy and cry aloud, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband.”Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise.At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now.But what does Scripture say?“ Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman. For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise. (niv)

and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, (niv)

Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the members of his household, as well as his livestock and all his other animals and all the goods he had acquired in Canaan, and moved to a land some distance from his brother Jacob.Their possessions were too great for them to remain together; the land where they were staying could not support them both because of their livestock. So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir. (niv)

Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. (niv)

Then God said,“ Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. (niv)

This is the account of the family line of Abraham’s son Isaac. Abraham became the father of Isaac, (niv)

But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year.” (niv)

But while he was still living, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them away from his son Isaac to the land of the east. (niv)

Abraham replied,“ I said to myself,‘ There is surely no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife.’ (niv)
