Now therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.”

Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall pray for you. For I will accept him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.”

And Samuel said,“ Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord for you.”

Then David spoke to the Lord when he saw the angel who was striking the people, and said,“ Surely I have sinned, and I have done wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Let Your hand, I pray, be against me and against my father’s house.”

And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner.These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.

and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods.So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly.

Saying,“ Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.”

But Naaman became furious, and went away and said,“ Indeed, I said to myself,‘ He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’

Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

So the Lord said to Moses:“ See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.

But the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

then it shall be, because he has sinned and is guilty, that he shall restore what he has stolen, or the thing which he has extorted, or what was delivered to him for safekeeping, or the lost thing which he found,

So he shall be your spokesman to the people. And he himself shall be as a mouth for you, and you shall be to him as God.

Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,“ This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying:‘ On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.

Then the king answered and said to the man of God,“ Please entreat the favor of the Lord your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me.” So the man of God entreated the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored to him, and became as before.

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

Then the Lord said to me,“ Even if Moses and Samuel stood before Me, My mind would not be favorable toward this people. Cast them out of My sight, and let them go forth.

So Moses’ father-in-law said to him,“ The thing that you do is not good.

Yet He is not partial to princes, Nor does He regard the rich more than the poor; For they are all the work of His hands.

Then the Lord said to me,“ Do not pray for this people, for their good.

And all the people said to Samuel,“ Pray for your servants to the Lord your God, that we may not die; for we have added to all our sins the evil of asking a king for ourselves.”

But if they are prophets, and if the word of the Lord is with them, let them now make intercession to the Lord of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the Lord, in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, do not go to Babylon.’

The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.

for the Lord had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.

If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that.

Then he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.And they said to him,“ Thus says Hezekiah:‘ This day is a day of trouble, and rebuke, and blasphemy; for the children have come to birth, but there is no strength to bring them forth.It may be that the Lord your God will hear all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to reproach the living God, and will rebuke the words which the Lord your God has heard. Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’”

The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac,And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant,Saying,“ To you I will give the land of Canaan As the allotment of your inheritance,”When they were few in number, Indeed very few, and strangers in it.When they went from one nation to another, From one kingdom to another people,He permitted no one to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes,Saying,“ Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.”

but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

And it came to pass after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah, in the third year, saying,“ Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth.”So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab; and there was a severe famine in Samaria.And Ahab had called Obadiah, who was in charge of his house.( Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly.For so it was, while Jezebel massacred the prophets of the Lord, that Obadiah had taken one hundred prophets and hidden them, fifty to a cave, and had fed them with bread and water.)And Ahab had said to Obadiah,“ Go into the land to all the springs of water and to all the brooks; perhaps we may find grass to keep the horses and mules alive, so that we will not have to kill any livestock.”So they divided the land between them to explore it; Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.Now as Obadiah was on his way, suddenly Elijah met him; and he recognized him, and fell on his face, and said,“ Is that you, my Lord Elijah?”And he answered him,“ It is I. Go, tell your master,‘ Elijah is here.’”So he said,“ How have I sinned, that you are delivering your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me?As the Lord your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my master has not sent someone to hunt for you; and when they said,‘ He is not here,’ he took an oath from the kingdom or nation that they could not find you.And now you say,‘ Go, tell your master,“ Elijah is here”’!And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from you, that the Spirit of the Lord will carry you to a place I do not know; so when I go and tell Ahab, and he cannot find you, he will kill me. But I your servant have feared the Lord from my youth.Was it not reported to my Lord what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of the Lord, how I hid one hundred men of the LORD’s prophets, fifty to a cave, and fed them with bread and water?And now you say,‘ Go, tell your master,“ Elijah is here.”’ He will kill me!”Then Elijah said,“ As the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely present myself to him today.”So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.Then it happened, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him,“ Is that you, O troubler of Israel?”And he answered,“ I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father’s house have, in that you have forsaken the commandments of the Lord and have followed the Baals.Now therefore, send and gather all Israel to me on Mount Carmel, the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal, and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”So Ahab sent for all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together on Mount Carmel.And Elijah came to all the people, and said,“ How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.Then Elijah said to the people,“ I alone am left a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men.Therefore let them give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it.Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” So all the people answered and said,“ It is well spoken.”Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal,“ Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.”So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying,“ O Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made.And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said,“ Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.”So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them.And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.Then Elijah said to all the people,“ Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down.And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying,“ Israel shall be your name.”Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed.And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said,“ Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.”Then he said,“ Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said,“ Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time.So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said,“ Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said,“ The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”And Elijah said to them,“ Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let one of them escape!” So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the Brook Kishon and executed them there.Then Elijah said to Ahab,“ Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.”So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees,and said to his servant,“ Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, and said,“ There is nothing.” And seven times he said,“ Go again.”Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said,“ There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said,“ Go up, say to Ahab,‘ Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’”Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel.Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

When I say to the wicked,‘ You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.

Again, when I say to the wicked,‘ You shall surely die,’ if he turns from his sin and does what is lawful and right,if the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without committing iniquity, he shall surely live; he shall not die.None of his sins which he has committed shall be remembered against him; he has done what is lawful and right; he shall surely live.

The princes of Pharaoh also saw her and commended her to Pharaoh. And the woman was taken to Pharaoh’s house.

Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way.

So the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord, and he shall be forgiven for any one of these things that he may have done in which he trespasses.”

When I say to the wicked,‘ O wicked man, you shall surely die!’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.

So the children of Israel said to Samuel,“ Do not cease to cry out to the Lord our God for us, that He may save us from the hand of the Philistines.”
