Now then, return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not return her, know that you will certainly die, you and all who are yours.”

But now give back the man’s wife. Indeed he is a prophet and he will pray for you; thus you will live. But if you don’t give her back, know that you will surely die along with all who belong to you.”

Now therefore, restore the man’s wife. For he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you will live. If you don’t restore her, know for sure that you will die, you, and all who are yours.”

Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will accept him so as not to do with you as your foolishness deserves, because you have not spoken of Me what is trustworthy, as My servant Job has.”

Then Samuel said,“ Gather all Israel to Mizpah and I will pray to the Lord for you.”

Then David spoke to the Lord when he saw the angel who was striking down the people, and said,“ Behold, it is I who have sinned, and it is I who have done wrong; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let Your hand be against me and against my father’s house!”

And if anyone wants to harm them, fire flows out of their mouth and devours their enemies; and so if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way.These have the power to shut up the sky, so that rain will not fall during the days of their prophesying; and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.

and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, their households, and all the people who belonged to Korah with all their possessions.So they and all that belonged to them went down alive to Sheol; and the earth closed over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly.

“ Do not touch My anointed ones, And do not harm My prophets.”

But Naaman was furious and went away, and he said,“ Behold, I thought,‘ He will certainly come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the site and cure the leprosy.’

Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet.

But the Lord struck Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;and the prayer of faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much.

then it shall be, when he sins and becomes guilty, that he shall restore what he took by robbery or acquired by extortion, or the deposit which was entrusted to him, or the lost property which he found,

He shall speak for you to the people; and he will be as a mouth for you and you will be as God to him.

Now the Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt,“ This month shall be the beginning of months for you; it is to be the first month of the year for you.Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying,‘ On the tenth of this month they are, each one, to take a lamb for themselves, according to the fathers’ households, a lamb for each household.

And the king responded and said to the man of God,“ Please appease the Lord your God and pray for me, so that my hand may be restored to me.” So the man of God appeased the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored to him, and it became as it was before.

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,

The one who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but the one who prophesies edifies the church.

Then the Lord said to me,“ Even if Moses and Samuel were to stand before Me, My heart would not be with this people. Send them away from My presence and have them go!

Moses’ father in law then said to him,“ The thing that you are doing is not good.

Who shows no partiality to the prominent, Nor regards the rich as above the poor, Since they are all the work of His hands?

So the Lord said to me,“ Do not pray for a good outcome on behalf of this people.

Then all the people said to Samuel,“ Pray to the Lord your God for your servants, so that we do not die; for we have added to all our sins this evil, by asking for ourselves a king.”

But if they are prophets, and if the word of the Lord is with them, have them now plead with the Lord of armies that the vessels which are left in the house of the Lord and the house of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem do not go to Babylon.

The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him, And He will make them know His covenant.

For the Lord had completely closed all the wombs of the household of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.

If anyone sees his brother or sister committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will, for him, give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death; I am not saying that he should ask about that.

Then he sent Eliakim, who was in charge of the household, with Shebna the scribe and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.And they said to him,“ This is what Hezekiah says:‘ This day is a day of distress, rebuke, and humiliation; for children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to deliver them.Perhaps the Lord your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to taunt the living God, and will avenge the words which the Lord your God has heard. Therefore, offer a prayer for the remnant that is left.’ ”

The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac.Then He confirmed it to Jacob as a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant,Saying,“ To you I will give the land of Canaan As the portion of your inheritance,”When they were only a few people in number, Very few, and strangers in it.And they wandered from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people,He allowed no one to oppress them, And He rebuked kings for their sakes, saying,“ Do not touch My anointed ones, And do not harm My prophets.”

but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for on the day that you eat from it you will certainly die.”

Now it happened after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year, saying,“ Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will provide rain on the face of the earth.”So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab. Now the famine was severe in Samaria.Ahab summoned Obadiah, who was in charge of the household.( Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly;for when Jezebel killed the prophets of the Lord, Obadiah took a hundred prophets and hid them by fifties in a cave, and provided them with bread and water.)Then Ahab said to Obadiah,“ Go through the land to all the springs of water and to all the river valleys; perhaps we will find grass and keep the horses and mules alive, and not have to kill some of the cattle.”So they divided the land between them to survey it; Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.Now as Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah met him, and he recognized him and fell on his face and said,“ Is it you, Elijah my master?”And he said to him,“ It is I. Go, say to your master,‘ Behold, Elijah is here.’ ”But he said,“ What sin have I committed, that you are handing your servant over to Ahab, to put me to death?As surely as the Lord your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom to which my master has not sent word to search for you; and whenever they say,‘ He is not here,’ he makes the kingdom or nation swear that they could not find you.Yet now you are saying,‘ Go, say to your master,“ Behold, Elijah is here!” ’And it will come about when I leave you that the Spirit of the Lord will carry you to where I do not know; so when I come and inform Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me, though I, your servant, have feared the Lord from my youth.Has it not been reported to my master what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of the Lord, that I hid a hundred prophets of the Lord by fifties in a cave, and provided them with bread and water?Yet now you are saying,‘ Go, say to your master,“ Behold, Elijah is here” ’; he will then kill me!”Then Elijah said,“ As surely as the Lord of armies lives, before whom I stand, I will certainly present myself to him today.”So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and informed him; then Ahab went to meet Elijah.When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him,“ Is this you, the cause of disaster to Israel?”He said,“ I have not brought disaster to Israel, but you and your father’s house have, because you have abandoned the commandments of the Lord and you have followed the Baals.Now then, send orders and gather to me all Israel at Mount Carmel, together with 450 prophets of Baal and four hundred prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”So Ahab sent orders among all the sons of Israel and brought the prophets together at Mount Carmel.Then Elijah approached all the people and said,“ How long are you going to struggle with the two choices? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people did not answer him so much as a word.Then Elijah said to the people,“ I alone am left as a prophet of the Lord, while Baal’s prophets are 450 men.Now have them give us two oxen; and have them choose the one ox for themselves and cut it up, and place it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other ox and lay it on the wood, and I will not put a fire under it.Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” And all the people replied,“ That is a good idea.”So Elijah said to the prophets of Baal,“ Choose the one ox for yourselves and prepare it first, since there are many of you, and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under the ox.”Then they took the ox which was given them and they prepared it, and they called on the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying,“ O Baal, answer us!” But there was no voice and no one answered. And they limped about the altar which they had made.And at noon Elijah ridiculed them and said,“ Call out with a loud voice, since he is a god; undoubtedly he is attending to business, or is on the way, or is on a journey. Perhaps he is asleep, and will awaken.”So they cried out with a loud voice, and cut themselves according to their custom with swords and lances until blood gushed out on them.When midday was past, they raved until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice; but there was no voice, no one answered, and no one paid attention.Then Elijah said to all the people,“ Come forward to me.” So all the people came forward to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord which had been torn down.Then Elijah took twelve stones, corresponding to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying,“ Israel shall be your name.”And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench around the altar, large enough to hold two measures of seed.Then he laid out the wood, and he cut the ox in pieces and placed it on the wood.And he said,“ Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the burnt offering and on the wood.” And he said,“ Do it a second time,” so they did it a second time. Then he said,“ Do it a third time,” so they did it a third time.The water flowed around the altar, and he also filled the trench with water.Then at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet approached and said,“ Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, today let it be known that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.Answer me, Lord, answer me, so that this people may know that You, Lord, are God, and that You have turned their heart back.”Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood, and the stones and the dust; and it licked up the water that was in the trench.When all the people saw this, they fell on their faces; and they said,“ The Lord, He is God; the Lord, He is God!”Then Elijah said to them,“ Seize the prophets of Baal; do not let one of them escape.” So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slaughtered them there.Now Elijah said to Ahab,“ Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of the roar of a heavy shower.”So Ahab went up to eat and drink. But Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bent down to the earth and put his face between his knees.And he said to his servant,“ Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, but he said,“ There is nothing.” Yet Elijah said,“ Go back” seven times.And when he returned the seventh time, he said,“ Behold, a cloud as small as a person’s hand is coming up from the sea.” And Elijah said,“ Go up, say to Ahab,‘ Harness your chariot horses and go down, so that the heavy shower does not stop you.’ ”Meanwhile the sky became dark with clouds and wind came up, and there was a heavy shower. And Ahab rode and went to Jezreel.Then the hand of the Lord was on Elijah, and he belted his cloak around his waist and outran Ahab to Jezreel.

When I say to the wicked,‘ You will certainly die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way so that he may live, that wicked person shall die for wrongdoing, but his blood I will require from your hand.

But when I say to the wicked,‘ You will certainly die,’ and he turns from his sin and practices justice and righteousness,if a wicked person returns a pledge, pays back what he has taken by robbery, walks by the statutes which ensure life without committing injustice, he shall certainly live; he shall not die.None of his sins that he has committed will be remembered against him. He has practiced justice and righteousness; he shall certainly live.

Pharaoh’s officials saw her and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.

Furthermore, as for me, far be it from me that I would sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and right way.

and the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord, and he will be forgiven for any one of the things which he may have done to incur guilt.”

When I say to the wicked,‘ You wicked person, you will certainly die,’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked about his way, that wicked person shall die for his wrongdoing, but I will require his blood from your hand.

So the sons of Israel said to Samuel,“ Do not stop crying out to the Lord our God for us, that He will save us from the hand of the Philistines!”
