Now Abimelek had not gone near her, so he said,“ Lord, will you destroy an innocent nation?

And David said to God,“ Is it not I who commanded to count the people? Indeed, I am the one who has sinned and acted very wickedly, but these sheep, what have they done? Lord, my God, just let Your hand be against me and my father’s household, and not against Your people as a plague.”

Abraham approached and said,“ Will You indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked?Suppose there are fifty righteous people within the city; will You indeed sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous who are in it?Far be it from You to do such a thing, to kill the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous and the wicked are treated alike. Far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth deal justly?”

Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his female slaves, so that they gave birth to children.For the Lord had completely closed all the wombs of the household of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.

How much more, when wicked men have killed a righteous man in his own house on his bed, shall I not now require his blood from your hands and eliminate you both from the earth?”

Then God said to him in the dream,“ Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also kept you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her.

Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah from the Lord out of heaven,
