And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand[ pieces] of silver: behold, he[ is] to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that[ are] with thee, and with all[ other]: thus she was reproved.

謂撒拉曰、我以千金賜爾兄、以蔽爾容於眾前、則爾所行、無不義矣、

謂撒拉曰、我以千金賜爾兄、可蔽爾容、勿令眾見、言此蓋以責之。○

謂撒拉曰、我以千金賜爾兄、為爾蔽面於眾前、及凡偕爾者、言此蓋以責之、或作我以千金賜爾兄可在偕爾者之前以蔽爾羞爾之冤抑則得伸於眾前

To Sarah he said,“ I am giving your brother a thousand shekels of silver. This is to cover the offense against you before all who are with you; you are completely vindicated.”

He said to Sarah,“ I’m giving your brother 25 pounds of silver. This will show everyone with you that I am sorry for what I did to you. You haven’t done anything wrong.”

To Sarah he said,“ Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. It is a sign of your innocence in the eyes of all who are with you, and before everyone you are vindicated.”

And he said to Sarah,“ Look, I am giving your‘ brother’ 1,000 pieces of silver in the presence of all these witnesses. This is to compensate you for any wrong I may have done to you. This will settle any claim against me, and your reputation is cleared.”

And he said to Sarah,“ Look, I am giving your brother one thousand pieces of silver. It is a verification of your honor to all who are with you. You are fully vindicated.”

To Sarah he said,“ Look, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. It is your vindication before all who are with you, and before everyone you are cleared.”

Then to Sarah he said,“ Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; indeed this vindicates you before all who are with you and before everybody.” Thus she was rebuked.

And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, it is for thee a covering of the eyes to all that are with thee; and in respect of all thou art righted.

And he said to Sarah,“ Look, I am giving your brother 1,000 pieces of silver. It is a verification of your honor to all who are with you. You are fully vindicated.”

To Sarah he said,“ Look, I have given a thousand pieces of silver to your‘ brother.’ This is compensation for you so that you will stand vindicated before all who are with you.”

To Sarah he said,“ Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. Behold, it is for you a covering of the eyes to all that are with you. In front of all you are vindicated.”

Open rebuke[ is] better than secret love.

Said he not unto me, She[ is] my sister? and she, even she herself said, He[ is] my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.

For she[ had] said unto the servant, What man[ is] this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant[ had] said, It[ is] my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.

So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not.

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.Give[ instruction] to a wise[ man], and he will be yet wiser: teach a just[ man], and he will increase in learning.

And Abimelech charged all[ his] people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.

[ As] an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold,[ so is] a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they[ be]: but, my lord the king,[ are] they not all my lord’s servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all[ they of] Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah[ was] four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king’s word was abominable to Joab.
