法老因她的緣故善待亞伯蘭；亞伯蘭得了許多羊、牛、公驢、男僕、婢女、母驢和駱駝。

亞伯拉罕回答：「因為我想這地方一定沒有敬畏神的人，他們會因我妻子的緣故殺了我。

你為什麼說『她是我的妹妹』，以致我要娶她為妻呢？現在，你的妻子在這裡，帶她走吧！」於是法老吩咐人，他們就把亞伯蘭和他的妻子以及一切屬於他的都送走了。

而現在，你要歸還那人的妻子；因為那人是一位先知，他要為你禱告，你就會存活！如果你不歸還，你要知道：你和任何屬於你的人都必定死。」

亞伯拉罕提到自己的妻子撒拉，就說：「她是我的妹妹」。於是基拉耳王亞比米勒派人把撒拉接去了。
