耶和华对亚伯兰说：“你要离开本地、本族、父家，往我所要指示你的地去。

后来亚伯兰渐渐迁往尼革夫去。

他们彼此勉励，设下恶计；他们商量，暗设圈套，说：“谁能看见呢？”

将近埃及，他对妻子撒莱说：“看哪，我知道你是美貌的女人。埃及人看见你会说：‘这是他的妻子’，他们就会杀我，却让你活着。所以，请你说你是我的妹妹，使我可以因你得平安，我的性命也因你存活。”亚伯兰到达埃及时，埃及人看见那女人极其美貌。法老的臣仆看见了她，就在法老面前称赞她。那女人就被带进法老的宫中。法老就因她厚待亚伯兰，给了亚伯兰许多牛、羊、公驴、奴仆、婢女、母驴、骆驼。耶和华因亚伯兰妻子撒莱的缘故，降大灾击打法老和他的全家。法老召了亚伯兰来，说：“你向我做的是什么事呢？为什么没有告诉我她是你的妻子？为什么说‘她是我的妹妹’，以致我把她接来要作我的妻子呢？现在，看哪，你的妻子在这里，带她走吧！”于是法老吩咐人把亚伯兰和他妻子，以及他一切所有的都送走了。

彼得对她说：“你们为什么同谋来试探主的灵呢？你看，埋葬你丈夫之人的脚已到门口，他们也要把你抬出去。”

因着信，亚伯拉罕蒙召的时候就遵命出去，往将来要承受为基业的地方去；他出去的时候还不知往哪里去。

对他说：‘你要离开本地和亲族，往我所要指示你的地去。’他就离开迦勒底人的地方，住在哈兰。他父亲死了以后，上帝使他从那里搬到你们现在所住的地方。在这里上帝并没有给他产业，连立足的地方都没有，但应许要将这地赐给他和他的后裔为业，虽然那时他还没有儿子。

扫罗说：“愿耶和华赐福给你们，因为你们体恤我。
