耶和华对亚伯兰说：“你当离开你的本土、本族、父家，往我将要指示你的地去。

后来亚伯兰又起程，继续往南地去。

他们彼此怂恿去做恶事，彼此商量要暗设陷阱，说：“谁能看见呢？”

快要进入埃及时，他对妻子撒莱说：“看哪，我知道你是一个容貌美丽的女人。埃及人看见你的时候，就会说‘这是他的妻子’，然后杀了我，却让你存活。请你说你是我的妹妹，好让我因你的缘故受到善待，我的性命也因你的缘故得以存活。”果然，当亚伯兰进入埃及时，埃及人看到那女人极其美丽。法老的群臣看见了，就在法老面前称赞她；那女人就被带进法老的宫殿。法老因她的缘故善待亚伯兰；亚伯兰得了许多羊、牛、公驴、男仆、婢女、母驴和骆驼。耶和华因亚伯兰妻子撒莱的缘故，用严重的疾患击打法老和他的家。于是法老召来亚伯兰，说：“你对我做的这是什么呢？你为什么不告诉我，她是你的妻子呢？你为什么说‘她是我的妹妹’，以致我要娶她为妻呢？现在，你的妻子在这里，带她走吧！”于是法老吩咐人，他们就把亚伯兰和他的妻子以及一切属于他的都送走了。

彼得就对她说：“你们为什么同心试探主的灵呢？看，埋葬你丈夫之人的脚，已经到门口了，他们也要把你抬出去。”

因着信，亚伯拉罕蒙召的时候，就顺从出发，往他将要得为继业的地方去。他出发的时候，还不知道往哪里去。

对他说：‘你要离开你的故土和亲族，到我所要指示你的地方去。’“于是亚伯拉罕离开迦勒底人的地方，住在哈兰。他的父亲死了以后，神使他从那里迁移到你们现在所住的这地方。在这里，神并没有赐给他继业，连立足的地方也没有。可是神应许要把这地赐给他和他的后裔为业。当时，亚伯拉罕还没有孩子。

扫罗说：“愿你们蒙耶和华祝福！因为你们顾惜我。
