大女兒對小女兒說：「我們的父親老了，這地又沒有男人可以照世上的禮俗來與我們結合。來！我們叫父親喝酒，然後與他同寢。這樣，我們可以從我們的父親存留後裔。」於是，那晚她們叫父親喝酒，大女兒就進去和她父親同寢；她幾時躺下，幾時起來，父親都不知道。第二天，大女兒對小女兒說：「看哪，我昨夜與父親同寢。今晚我們再叫他喝酒，你進去與他同寢。這樣，我們可以從父親存留後裔。」於是，那晚她們又叫父親喝酒，小女兒起來與她父親同寢；她幾時躺下，幾時起來，父親都不知道。這樣，羅得的兩個女兒都從她們的父親懷了孕。大女兒生了兒子，給他起名叫摩押，就是現今摩押人的始祖。小女兒也生了兒子，給他起名叫便‧亞米，就是現今亞捫人的始祖。

荊棘對眾樹說：『你們若真的要膏我作王治理你們，就要來到我的蔭下尋求庇護；不然，願火從荊棘裏出來，吞滅黎巴嫩的香柏樹。』

豈不是要你把食物分給飢餓的人，將流浪的窮人接到家中，見赤身的給他衣服遮體，而不隱藏自己避開你的骨肉嗎？

為甚麼不說，我們可以作惡以成善呢？有人毀謗我們，說我們講過這話；這等人被定罪是應該的。

呂便對他父親說：「我若不帶他回來給你，你可以殺我的兩個兒子。只管把他交在我手裏，我必帶他回來給你。」

既然你們來到僕人這裏了，我再拿點餅來，讓你們恢復心力，然後再走。」他們說：「就照你說的去做吧。」

亞倫說：「求我主不要發烈怒。你知道這百姓，他們是向惡的。
