誰有禍患？誰有愁苦？誰有紛爭？誰有怨言？誰無故受傷？誰的眼睛赤紅？就是那些沉湎於酒，常去品嘗調和了的酒的人。你不要看酒怎樣發紅，在杯中怎樣閃爍誘人，喝下去怎樣舒暢，最後它卻像咬你的蛇、像刺你的毒蛇。你的眼睛必看見怪異的事，你的心必說乖謬的話。你必好像躺在海中，又好像躺在桅杆頂上。你必說：“人打我，我不痛；人鞭打我，我不曉得；我甚麼時候清醒？我還要再去尋酒。”

酒能使人狂放，烈酒能使人喧嘩；所有因醉酒而犯錯的，都沒有智慧。

“你們任何人都不可親近骨肉之親，揭露她的下體；我是耶和華。你不可揭露你父親的下體，就是你母親的下體；她是你的母親，你不可揭露她的下體。

你這請鄰舍喝酒，卻把毒物混入，使他醉倒，為要見他赤裸的，有禍了！你滿有羞辱，沒有尊榮，你也喝到露出下體來吧！耶和華右手的杯必傳回來給你，使極大的羞辱取代你的尊榮。
