南地和棕櫚城耶利哥的谷地，遠至瑣珥。

到了城外，其中一位天使說：「趕快逃！不要回頭看，也不要留在平原，要往山上逃，免得你們被毀滅。」

你們為什麼這樣忽東忽西地變來變去呢？你們投奔埃及必蒙羞辱，就像從前投奔亞述一樣。你們必灰頭土臉地離開埃及，因為耶和華棄絕了你們的靠山，你們從他們那裡必得不到幫助。」

羅得舉目眺望，看見整個約旦河平原，遠至瑣珥，水源充足。在耶和華還沒有毀滅所多瑪和蛾摩拉之前，那地方就好像耶和華的伊甸園，又像埃及。
