亞伯拉罕近前來說：「你真要把義人與惡人一同除滅嗎？假如那城中有五十個義人，你真的還會除滅它，而不因城中這五十個義人饒恕那地方嗎？你絕不會做這樣的事：把義人與惡人一同殺死，讓義人像惡人一樣！你絕不會！難道全地的審判者不施行公正嗎？」耶和華說：「如果我在所多瑪城中找到五十個義人，我就會因他們的緣故饒恕那整個地方。」亞伯拉罕回應說：「看哪，儘管我是塵土和灰燼，也容我斗膽向我主說，假如這五十個義人中缺少五個，難道你會因缺少五個而毀滅全城嗎？」耶和華說：「如果我在那裡找到四十五個，我也不會毀滅那城。」亞伯拉罕又繼續問他說：「假如在那裡找到四十個呢？」耶和華就說：「因這四十個的緣故，我也不會這樣做。」亞伯拉罕接著說：「請我主不要惱火，容我說，假如在那裡找到三十個呢？」耶和華說：「如果我在那裡找到三十個，我也不會這樣做。」亞伯拉罕又說：「看哪，我再次斗膽向我主說，假如在那裡找到二十個呢？」耶和華說：「因這二十個的緣故，我也不會毀滅那城。」亞伯拉罕再次說：「請我主不要惱火，容我說最後一次，假如在那裡找到十個呢？」耶和華說：「因這十個的緣故，我也不會毀滅那城。」耶和華與亞伯拉罕說完話就走了，亞伯拉罕也回自己的地方去了。

不要記念我年幼時的罪惡和我的過犯；耶和華啊，求你因著你的美善，按著你的慈愛記念我！

他在我們卑微的時候記念我們，因他的慈愛永遠長存！

因為他記念他聖潔的話語，記念他的僕人亞伯拉罕。

既然神拯救了那因惡人的好色行為而哀傷的義人羅得——

耶和華保守所有愛他的人，卻要除滅所有的惡人。

我要使你成為一個大國，我要祝福你，使你的名為大；你也必成為別人的祝福！

神也記念拉結，聽允了她，使她能生育。

耶和華啊，你悅納你子民的時候，求你記念我，以你的救恩看顧我，

他記念自己的約，直到永遠；記念他吩咐的話，直到千代——
