Indeed now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have increased your mercy which you have shown me by saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountains, lest some evil overtake me and I die.

Your servant has found favor in your eyes, and you have shown great kindness to me in sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains; this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die.

You have done me a big favor. You have been very kind to me by sparing my life. But I can’t run to the mountains. I won’t be able to escape this horrible thing that’s going to happen. And then I’ll die.

Behold, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have shown me great kindness in saving my life. But I cannot escape to the hills, lest the disaster overtake me and I die.

“ You have been so gracious to me and saved my life, and you have shown such great kindness. But I cannot go to the mountains. Disaster would catch up to me there, and I would soon die.

Then they will answer,‘ Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, and worshiped them and served them; therefore the Lord has brought all this calamity on them.’”

He answered him and said,“ O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.”

Then My anger shall be aroused against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide My face from them, and they shall be devoured. And many evils and troubles shall befall them, so that they will say in that day,‘ Have not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us?’

Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He be favorable no more?Has His mercy ceased forever? Has His promise failed forevermore?Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? SelahAnd I said,“ This is my anguish; But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.”I will remember the works of the Lord; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.

I love the Lord, because He has heard My voice and my supplications.Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.The pains of death surrounded me, And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow.Then I called upon the name of the Lord:“ O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!”Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; Yes, our God is merciful.The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me.Return to your rest, O my soul, For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.For You have delivered my soul from death, My eyes from tears, And my feet from falling.I will walk before the Lord In the land of the living.I believed, therefore I spoke,“ I am greatly afflicted.”I said in my haste,“ All men are liars.”What shall I render to the Lord For all His benefits toward me?I will take up the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of the Lord.I will pay my vows to the Lord Now in the presence of all His people.Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His saints.O Lord, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds.I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the Lord.I will pay my vows to the Lord Now in the presence of all His people,In the courts of the LORD’s house, In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? Who can declare all His praise?Blessed are those who keep justice, And he who does righteousness at all times!Remember me, O Lord, with the favor You have toward Your people. Oh, visit me with Your salvation,That I may see the benefit of Your chosen ones, That I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation, That I may glory with Your inheritance.We have sinned with our fathers, We have committed iniquity, We have done wickedly.Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your wonders; They did not remember the multitude of Your mercies, But rebelled by the sea— the Red Sea.Nevertheless He saved them for His name’s sake, That He might make His mighty power known.He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it dried up; So He led them through the depths, As through the wilderness.He saved them from the hand of him who hated them, And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.The waters covered their enemies; There was not one of them left.Then they believed His words; They sang His praise.They soon forgot His works; They did not wait for His counsel,But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, And tested God in the desert.And He gave them their request, But sent leanness into their soul.When they envied Moses in the camp, And Aaron the saint of the Lord,The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan, And covered the faction of Abiram.A fire was kindled in their company; The flame burned up the wicked.They made a calf in Horeb, And worshiped the molded image.Thus they changed their glory Into the image of an ox that eats grass.They forgot God their Savior, Who had done great things in Egypt,Wondrous works in the land of Ham, Awesome things by the Red Sea.Therefore He said that He would destroy them, Had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in the breach, To turn away His wrath, lest He destroy them.Then they despised the pleasant land; They did not believe His word,But complained in their tents, And did not heed the voice of the Lord.Therefore He raised His hand in an oath against them, To overthrow them in the wilderness,To overthrow their descendants among the nations, And to scatter them in the lands.They joined themselves also to Baal of Peor, And ate sacrifices made to the dead.Thus they provoked Him to anger with their deeds, And the plague broke out among them.Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, And the plague was stopped.And that was accounted to him for righteousness To all generations forevermore.They angered Him also at the waters of strife, So that it went ill with Moses on account of them;Because they rebelled against His Spirit, So that he spoke rashly with his lips.They did not destroy the peoples, Concerning whom the Lord had commanded them,But they mingled with the Gentiles And learned their works;They served their idols, Which became a snare to them.They even sacrificed their sons And their daughters to demons,And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with blood.Thus they were defiled by their own works, And played the harlot by their own deeds.Therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against His people, So that He abhorred His own inheritance.And He gave them into the hand of the Gentiles, And those who hated them ruled over them.Their enemies also oppressed them, And they were brought into subjection under their hand.Many times He delivered them; But they rebelled in their counsel, And were brought low for their iniquity.Nevertheless He regarded their affliction, When He heard their cry;And for their sake He remembered His covenant, And relented according to the multitude of His mercies.He also made them to be pitied By all those who carried them away captive.Save us, O Lord our God, And gather us from among the Gentiles, To give thanks to Your holy name, To triumph in Your praise.Blessed be the Lord God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say,“ Amen!” Praise the Lord!

I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.Blessed is that man who makes the Lord his trust, And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works Which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us Cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered.Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; My ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.Then I said,“ Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me.I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.”I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness In the great assembly; Indeed, I do not restrain my lips, O Lord, You Yourself know.I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth From the great assembly.Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord; Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me.For innumerable evils have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; They are more than the hairs of my head; Therefore my heart fails me.Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me; O Lord, make haste to help me!Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion Who seek to destroy my life; Let them be driven backward and brought to dishonor Who wish me evil.Let them be confounded because of their shame, Who say to me,“ Aha, aha!”Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let such as love Your salvation say continually,“ The Lord be magnified!”But I am poor and needy; Yet the Lord thinks upon me. You are my help and my deliverer; Do not delay, O my God.

Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying,“ Lord, save us! We are perishing!”But He said to them,“ Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

And David said in his heart,“ Now I shall perish someday by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape to the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me anymore in any part of Israel. So I shall escape out of his hand.”

And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
