Your servant has found favor in your eyes, and you have shown great kindness to me in sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains; this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die.

You have done me a big favor. You have been very kind to me by sparing my life. But I can’t run to the mountains. I won’t be able to escape this horrible thing that’s going to happen. And then I’ll die.

I waited patiently for the Lord; And He reached down to me and heard my cry.He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the mud; And He set my feet on a rock, making my footsteps firm.He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the Lord.How blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust, And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who become involved in falsehood.Many, Lord my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is no one to compare with You. And they came to Him and woke Him, saying,“ Save us, Lord; we are perishing!”He* said to them,“ Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm.

Then David said to himself,“ Now I will perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than to safely escape into the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will despair of searching for me anymore in all the territory of Israel, and I will escape from his hand.”

and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus.It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost.Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost sinner Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
