曰、設有四十人、則何如、曰、緣四十人、吾亦弗行是、

亚伯拉罕又对他说：“假若在那里见有四十个怎么样呢？”他说：“为这四十个的缘故，我也不做这事。”

亚伯拉罕又对他说：“假若在那里找到四十个呢？”他说：“为这四十个的缘故，我也不做。”

亚伯拉罕又对他说：“假若在那里找到四十个呢？”他说：“为这四十个的缘故，我也不做。”

亚伯拉罕又说：“倘若在那里找到四十个义人呢？”耶和华说：“为了那四十个人的缘故，我不会毁灭那城。”

亚伯拉罕再问他说：“假如在那里找到四十个呢？”他回答：“我因这四十个的缘故，也不这样作。”

亚伯拉罕又继续问他说：“假如在那里找到四十个呢？”耶和华就说：“因这四十个的缘故，我也不会这样做。”

亞伯拉罕又對他說：「假若在那裏見有四十個怎麼樣呢？」他說：「為這四十個的緣故，我也不做這事。」

亞伯拉罕又對他說：「假若在那裏找到四十個呢？」他說：「為這四十個的緣故，我也不做。」

亞伯拉罕又說：「倘若在那裡找到四十個義人呢？」耶和華說：「為了那四十個人的緣故，我不會毀滅那城。」

亞伯拉罕再問他說：“假如在那裡找到四十個呢？”他回答：“我因這四十個的緣故，也不這樣作。”

亞伯拉罕又對他說：『萬一在那裏只見有四十個呢？』他說：『因這四十個的緣故，我也不這樣作。』

亞伯拉罕又繼續問他說：「假如在那裡找到四十個呢？」耶和華就說：「因這四十個的緣故，我也不會這樣做。」

曰、四十人則何如。曰、四十人、吾亦弗行是。

亞伯拉罕復對曰、若邑中遇四十人則何如、曰、緣四十人我亦不行是、

Once again he spoke to him,“ What if only forty are found there?” He said,“ For the sake of forty, I will not do it.”

Once again Abraham spoke to him. He asked,“ What if only 40 are found there?” He said,“ If there are 40, I will not do it.”

Again he spoke to him and said,“ Suppose forty are found there.” He answered,“ For the sake of forty I will not do it.”

Then Abraham pressed his request further.“ Suppose there are only forty?” And the Lord replied,“ I will not destroy it for the sake of the forty.”

Then he spoke to him again,“ Suppose forty are found there?” He answered,“ I will not do it on account of forty.”

And he spoke to Him yet again and said,“ Suppose forty are found there?” And He said,“ I will not do it on account of the forty.”

And he spoke to Him yet again and said,“ Suppose there should be forty found there?” So He said,“ I will not do it for the sake of forty.”

And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for the forty’s sake.

Then he spoke to Him again,“ Suppose 40 are found there?” He answered,“ I will not do it on account of 40.”

And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do[ it] for forty’s sake.

Abraham spoke to him again,“ What if forty are found there?” He replied,“ I will not do it for the sake of the forty.”

He spoke to him yet again, and said,“ What if there are forty found there?” He said,“ I will not do it for the forty’s sake.”

故當毅然近於恩座、以得矜恤、並承隨時之恩佑焉、

以諸祈禱籲懇、感於聖神而恆求、於此儆醒不倦、為諸聖徒祈、
