那婦人來對丈夫說：「有一個神人到我這裏來，他的容貌如神使者的容貌，非常可畏。我沒有問他從哪裏來，他也沒有把他的名字告訴我。他對我說：『看哪，你要懷孕，生一個兒子。現在，清酒烈酒都不可喝，任何不潔之物都不可吃，因為這孩子從出母胎一直到死的那一天，要歸給神作拿細耳人。』」瑪挪亞祈求耶和華說：「主啊，求你再差遣那神人到我們這裏來，指示我們對這將要生的孩子該怎樣作。」神垂聽了瑪挪亞的聲音。那婦人坐在田間的時候，神的使者又到她那裏，但是她的丈夫瑪挪亞沒有同她在一起。婦人急忙跑去告訴丈夫，對他說：「看哪，那日到我這裏來的人又向我顯現了。」瑪挪亞起來，跟隨他的妻子來到那人那裏，對他說：「你就是跟這婦人說話的那個人嗎？」他說：「是我。」

他自己卻走到他們前面，一連七次俯伏在地才挨近他哥哥。以掃跑來迎接他，將他抱住，伏在他的頸項上親他，他們都哭了。以掃舉目看見婦人和孩子，就說：「這些和你一起的是誰呢？」雅各說：「這些孩子是神施恩給你僕人的。」於是兩個婢女和她們的孩子前來下拜，利亞和她的孩子也前來下拜，隨後約瑟和拉結也前來下拜。

路得就臉伏於地叩拜，對他說：「我既是外邦女子，怎麼會在你眼中蒙恩，使你這樣照顧我呢？」

在耶利哥的先知的門徒從對面看見他，說：「感動以利亞的靈臨到以利沙身上了。」他們就來迎接他，俯伏於地，向他下拜，

聖徒有缺乏，要供給；異鄉客，要殷勤款待。

你們要互相款待，不發怨言。
