Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. So he quickly left the entrance to his tent to greet them. He bowed low to the ground.

Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground.

He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing in front of him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth

Don’t forget to welcome outsiders. By doing that, some people have welcomed angels without knowing it.

The men turned away and went toward Sodom. But Abraham remained standing in front of the Lord.

The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening. Lot was sitting near the gate of the city. When Lot saw the angels, he got up to greet them. He bowed down with his face to the ground.

The angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah’s wife. He said,“ You are not able to have children. But you are going to become pregnant. You will have a baby boy.

So Jacob was left alone. A man wrestled with him until morning.

Then Abraham bowed down in front of the Hittites, the people of the land.

When Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him. The man was holding a sword. He was ready for battle. Joshua went up to him. He asked,“ Are you on our side? Or are you on the side of our enemies?”

The men got up to leave. They looked down toward Sodom. Abraham walked along with them to see them on their way.

Joseph was still in the house when Judah and his brothers came in. They threw themselves down on the ground in front of him.

They replied,“ Your servant our father is still alive and well.” And they bowed down to show him honor.

When Joseph came home, they gave him the gifts they had brought into the house. They bowed down low in front of him.

Then the woman went to her husband. She told him,“ A man of God came to me. He looked like an angel of God. His appearance was so amazing that it filled me with great wonder. I didn’t ask him where he came from. And he didn’t tell me his name.But he said to me,‘ You will become pregnant. You will have a son. So do not drink any kind of wine. Do not eat anything that is“ unclean.” That is because the boy will be a Nazirite. He will belong to God in a special way from the day he is born until the day he dies.’ ”Then Manoah prayed to the Lord. He said,“ Pardon your servant, Lord. I beg you to let the man of God you sent to us come again. He told us we would have a son. We want the man of God to teach us how to bring up the boy.”God heard Manoah. And the angel of God came again to the woman. He came while she was out in the field. But her husband Manoah wasn’t with her.The woman hurried to her husband. She told him,“ He’s here! The man who appeared to me the other day is here!”Manoah got up and followed his wife. When he came to the man, he spoke to him. He said,“ Are you the man who talked to my wife?”“ I am,” he replied.

He himself went on ahead. As he came near his brother, he bowed down to the ground seven times.But Esau ran to meet Jacob. He hugged him and threw his arms around his neck. He kissed him, and they cried for joy.Then Esau looked around and saw the women and children.“ Who are these people with you?” he asked. Jacob answered,“ They are the children God has so kindly given to me.”Then the female servants and their children came near and bowed down.Next, Leah and her children came and bowed down. Last of all came Joseph and Rachel. They bowed down too.

When Ruth heard that, she bowed down with her face to the ground. She asked him,“ Why are you being so kind to me? In fact, why are you even noticing me? I’m from another country.”

The group of prophets from Jericho were watching. They said,“ The spirit of Elijah has been given to Elisha.” They went over to Elisha. They bowed down to him with their faces toward the ground.
