Then one of them said,“ I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son!” Sarah was listening to this conversation from the tent.

三人中有一位说：“到明年这时候，我必要回到你这里；你的妻子撒拉必生一个儿子。”撒拉在那人后边的帐棚门口也听见了这话。

有一位说：“明年这时候，我一定会回到你这里。看哪，你的妻子撒拉会生一个儿子。”撒拉在那人后面的帐棚门口也听见了。

有一位说：“明年这时候，我一定会回到你这里。看哪，你的妻子撒拉会生一个儿子。”撒拉在那人后面的帐棚门口也听见了。

其中一人说：“明年这时候，我会再来你这里，撒拉必生一个儿子。”这话被站在那人后面帐篷口的撒拉听见了。

其中一位说：“到明年这个时候，我必回到你这里来。那时，你的妻子撒拉必生一个儿子。”撒拉在那人后面的帐棚门口，也听见了这话。

其中一位说：“明年这时候，我一定回到你这里。看哪，你的妻子撒拉将会有一个儿子！”当时撒拉正在那人后面的帐篷入口听着。

三人中有一位說：「到明年這時候，我必要回到你這裏；你的妻子撒拉必生一個兒子。」撒拉在那人後邊的帳棚門口也聽見了這話。

有一位說：「明年這時候，我一定會回到你這裏。看哪，你的妻子撒拉會生一個兒子。」撒拉在那人後面的帳棚門口也聽見了。

有一位說：「明年這時候，我一定會回到你這裏。看哪，你的妻子撒拉會生一個兒子。」撒拉在那人後面的帳棚門口也聽見了。

其中一人說：「明年這時候，我會再來你這裡，撒拉必生一個兒子。」這話被站在那人後面帳篷口的撒拉聽見了。

其中一位說：“到明年這個時候，我必回到你這裡來。那時，你的妻子撒拉必生一個兒子。”撒拉在那人後面的帳棚門口，也聽見了這話。

那位說：『在婦人懷孕滿期的時候，我一定要回到你這裏來。看吧，你妻子撒拉必生個兒子。』撒拉在後邊帳棚聽着呢。

其中一位說：「明年這時候，我一定回到你這裡。看哪，你的妻子撒拉將會有一個兒子！」當時撒拉正在那人後面的帳篷入口聽著。

其中一人曰、明年屆期、我必復至、爾妻撒拉將生子、撒拉在其後、於幕門聞此、

Then one of them said,“ I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.

Then one of them said,“ I will surely return to you about this time next year. Your wife Sarah will have a son.” Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.

The Lord said,“ I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him.

The LORD said,“ I will certainly come back to you in about a year’s time, and your wife Sarah will have a son!” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance of the tent behind him.

He said,“ I will certainly return to you at this time next year; and behold, your wife Sarah will have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door, which was behind him.

And He said,“ I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.”( Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.)

And he said, I will certainly return unto thee when the season cometh round; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him.

The Lord said,“ I will certainly come back to you in about a year’s time, and your wife Sarah will have a son!” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance of the tent behind him.

And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard[ it] in the tent door, which[ was] behind him.

One of them said,“ I will surely return to you when the season comes round again, and your wife Sarah will have a son!”( Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, not far behind him.

He said,“ I will certainly return to you at about this time next year; and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son.” Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him.

She became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. This happened at just the time God had said it would.

But my covenant will be confirmed with Isaac, who will be born to you and Sarah about this time next year.”

This means that Abraham’s physical descendants are not necessarily children of God. Only the children of the promise are considered to be Abraham’s children.For God had promised,“ I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

But God replied,“ No— Sarah, your wife, will give birth to a son for you. You will name him Isaac, and I will confirm my covenant with him and his descendants as an everlasting covenant.

“ Next year at this time you will be holding a son in your arms!”“ No, my lord!” she cried.“ O man of God, don’t deceive me and get my hopes up like that.”But sure enough, the woman soon became pregnant. And at that time the following year she had a son, just as Elisha had said.

And I will bless her and give you a son from her! Yes, I will bless her richly, and she will become the mother of many nations. Kings of nations will be among her descendants.”

Then the angel of the Lord called again to Abraham from heaven.“ This is what the Lord says: Because you have obeyed me and have not withheld even your son, your only son, I swear by my own name that

The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfillment of his promise.

And you, dear brothers and sisters, are children of the promise, just like Isaac.

The angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah’s wife and said,“ Even though you have been unable to have children, you will soon become pregnant and give birth to a son.So be careful; you must not drink wine or any other alcoholic drink nor eat any forbidden food.You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and his hair must never be cut. For he will be dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. He will begin to rescue Israel from the Philistines.”

Then he added,“ I will give you more descendants than you can count.”

Then the Lord said to Abraham,“ Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say,‘ Can an old woman like me have a baby?’Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

But the angel said,“ Don’t be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer. Your wife, Elizabeth, will give you a son, and you are to name him John.
