No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.

神对亚伯拉罕说：“至于你的妻子撒莱，你不要再叫她撒莱，她的名字要叫撒拉。

列国必看见你的公义，所有的君王必看见你的荣耀；人必以新的名字称呼你，这名字是耶和华亲口授予的。你必成为耶和华手中荣耀的冠冕，成为你神手掌上的王冠。你不再被称为“遭遗弃的”，你的地也不再被称为“荒凉的”；你必被称为“我所喜悦的”，你的地也必被称为“有丈夫的”；因为耶和华喜悦你，你的地也必有丈夫。

正如经上所记：“我已经指派你为众多民族的父。”亚伯拉罕所信的那一位，就是叫死人得生命、使无变为有的神。

那人说：“你的名字不要再叫雅各，而要叫以色列，因为你已经与神与人较力，并且得胜了。”

“凡是有耳的，就应当听圣灵向各教会所说的话！那得胜的，我将要赐给他那隐藏的吗哪。我还要赐给他一块白石头，石头上有一个写好的新名字，除了那领受的人以外，没有人认识这名字。

你们必留下自己的名字，作我选民的诅咒词。主耶和华必把你们处死；至于我的仆人们，我必用另外的名字称呼他们。

他就带西门到耶稣那里。耶稣注视着他，说：“你是约翰的儿子西门，你将被称为矶法。”——“矶法”翻译出来就是“彼得”。
