On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household or bought with his money, every male in his household, and circumcised them, as God told him.

Then Abraham took Ishmael his son and all those born in his house or bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house, and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very day, as God had said to him.

保羅欲攜之同往、因彼處之猶太人、為之行割禮、蓋皆知其父為希拉人也、

信基督耶穌、受割禮不受割禮皆無益、至要者惟新造之人、

闔邑之人、原文作凡出自邑門之人聽哈末及示劍之言、邑中所有男子、原文作凡男子出自邑門者皆受割禮、

人已受割禮而蒙召乎、則勿廢割禮、未受割禮而蒙召乎、則勿受割禮、受割禮無益、不受割禮亦無益、惟守天主之誡命而已、

我遵守主之誡命、迅速不敢遲延、

爾若遵行律法、割禮有益、若犯律法、雖受割禮、亦若未受、故未受割禮者、若守律法之誡、雖未受割禮、不可視為已受割禮乎、其素無割禮、而守律法者、豈不罪爾有儀文受割禮、仍犯律法乎、蓋顯為猶太人者、非猶太人、於身顯受之割禮、非割禮、隱為猶太人者、是誠猶太人、心之割禮、是真割禮、蓋在內心、不在儀文、其稱譽非由人、乃由天主、

爾中男子、咸當受割禮、此即我與爾及爾後裔所立之約、爾當守之、爾曹皆當受割禮、為我與爾曹立約之徵、爾歷代諸男子、或生於爾家、或購自異邦、非爾後裔、既生八日、皆必受割禮、生於爾家者、或以銀購者、皆當受割禮、如是、我約必立於爾身、以為永約、男子不受割禮、背我約、必絕之於民中、○

凡爾手所經營之事、當盡力經營、因爾所將往之示阿勒、示阿勒有譯黃泉有譯陰府有譯墳墓無經營、無計謀、無知識、無智慧、○

當日亞伯拉罕與子以實瑪利、同受割禮、凡其家人、或生於家、或以銀購自異邦者、同受割禮、

我知亞伯拉罕必命子或作我選擇亞伯拉罕為欲彼命其子及眷屬、令守我道、為善行義、如是、我必以凡所許之者悉賜之、

勿自誇明日之事、蓋今日遇何事、爾尚不知、

此福加諸受割禮者乎、抑亦加諸未受割禮者乎、蓋已言亞伯拉罕之信視為義、何時視為義、受割禮之後乎、抑受割禮之前乎、非受割禮之後、乃受割禮之前、彼受割禮之號、即未受割禮時、因信而稱義之印證、使其為凡未受割禮而信者之父、使彼亦得稱義、亦為受割禮者之父、即不獨受割禮、且循吾祖亞伯拉罕未受割禮時、所有之信之跡而行者、

信基督耶穌、受割禮不受割禮皆無益、惟使人行仁愛之信德有益、

當時主命約書亞曰、爾製利刀、利刀或作石刀下同為以色列人復行割禮、約書亞遂製利刀、在除皮山、為以色列人行割禮、約書亞之行割禮有故焉、因昔出伊及民眾、其中丁男、即諸戰士、出伊及後、皆死於曠野途間、凡出伊及之民、皆已受割禮、惟出伊及後、在曠野途間所生之民、悉未受割禮、蓋以色列人遊行於曠野、歷四十年、待出伊及之民中一切戰士皆死、因其不遵主言、故主向其發誓、不容其得見主誓於列祖、必賜我儕之地、即流乳與蜜之地、其子孫即主所使繼之者、因途間未受割禮約書亞始為之行割禮、眾民受割禮已畢、則在營中各居其所、以待痊愈、主諭約書亞曰、今日我使伊及之恥笑、恥笑或作恥辱轉離爾曹、故名其地曰吉甲、吉甲譯即轉離之義其名至今尚存、
