I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”

神对他说：“我是全能的神，你要繁衍增多，必有一国和众国从你而生，又必有很多君王从你而出。

我要使你极其昌盛，国度因你而立，君王必从你而出。

我必使你成为大国，赐福给你，使你的名为大，你也必使别人得福，

其中一位说：“到明年这个时候，我必回到你这里来。那时，你的妻子撒拉必生一个儿子。”撒拉在那人后面的帐棚门口，也听见了这话。当时，亚伯拉罕和撒拉都老了，上了年纪，撒拉的月经也停止了。撒拉心里暗笑，说：“现在我已经衰老了，我的丈夫也老了，我还有房事的乐趣吗？”耶和华对亚伯拉罕说：“撒拉为什么暗笑说：‘我已经老了，真的还能生育吗？’耶和华岂有难成的事吗？到明年这个时候，我要回到你这里来，那时，撒拉必生一个儿子。”

因为所应许的话是这样：“明年这个时候我要来，撒拉必定生一个儿子。”

像撒拉听从亚伯拉罕，称他为主一样；你们若行善，不怕任何恐吓，就是撒拉的女儿了。

那在上面的耶路撒冷是自由的，她是我们的母亲，因为经上记着说：“不能生育、没有生养的啊，你要欢欣！没有受过生产痛苦的啊，你要呼喊，大声呼叫！因为弃妇比有夫之妇有更多儿子。”可是，弟兄们，你们是按着应许作儿女的，好像以撒一样。不过，当时那按着肉体生的，迫害那按着圣灵生的，现在也是这样。然而经上怎样说呢？“把婢女和她的儿子赶出去，因为婢女的儿子，绝对不可以和自由的妇人的儿子一同承受产业。”所以，弟兄们，我们不是婢女的儿女，而是自由的妇人的儿女了。

神就赐福给他们，对他们说：“要繁衍增多，充满这地，征服它；也要管理海里的鱼、空中的鸟和地上所有走动的生物。”

他们给利百加祝福，对她说：“我们的妹妹啊，愿你作千万人之母；愿你的后裔，占领仇敌的城门。”

列国的君王要作你的养父，他们的王后必作你的保姆；他们必脸伏于地向你下拜，舐你脚上的尘土。那么，你就知道我是耶和华，那些仰望我的决不会羞愧。”
