This is my requirement that you and your descendants after you must keep: Every male among you must be circumcised.

This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.

Is this blessedness then for the circumcision or also for the uncircumcision? For we say,“ faith was credited to Abraham as righteousness.”How then was it credited to him? Was he circumcised at the time, or not? No, he was not circumcised but uncircumcised!And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised, so that he would become the father of all those who believe but have never been circumcised, that they too could have righteousness credited to them.

In him you also were circumcised– not, however, with a circumcision performed by human hands, but by the removal of the fleshly body, that is, through the circumcision done by Christ.Having been buried with him in baptism, you also have been raised with him through your faith in the power of God who raised him from the dead.

However, because Moses gave you the practice of circumcision( not that it came from Moses, but from the forefathers), you circumcise a male child on the Sabbath.

Was anyone called after he had been circumcised? He should not try to undo his circumcision. Was anyone called who is uncircumcised? He should not get circumcised.Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Instead, keeping God’s commandments is what counts.

For we are the circumcision, the ones who worship by the Spirit of God, exult in Christ Jesus, and do not rely on human credentials

Just as ritual circumcision cuts away the foreskin as an external symbol of dedicated covenant commitment, you must genuinely dedicate yourselves to the LORD and get rid of everything that hinders your commitment to me, people of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. If you do not, my anger will blaze up like a flaming fire against you that no one will be able to extinguish. That will happen because of the evil you have done.”

Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh– who are called“ uncircumcision” by the so- called“ circumcision” that is performed on the body by human hands–

The LORD says,“ Watch out! The time is soon coming when I will punish all those who are circumcised only in the flesh.That is, I will punish the Egyptians, the Judeans, the Edomites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, and all the desert people who cut their hair short at the temples. I will do so because none of the people of those nations are really circumcised in the Lord’ s sight. Moreover, none of the people of Israel are circumcised when it comes to their hearts.”

This is why Joshua had to circumcise them: All the men old enough to fight when they left Egypt died on the journey through the desert after they left Egypt.

God publicly displayed him at his death as the mercy seat accessible through faith. This was to demonstrate his righteousness, because God in his forbearance had passed over the sins previously committed.

And I testify again to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.You who are trying to be declared righteous by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace!For through the Spirit, by faith, we wait expectantly for the hope of righteousness.For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision carries any weight– the only thing that matters is faith working through love.

You must circumcise the flesh of your foreskins. This will be a reminder of the covenant between me and you.

We will give you our consent on this one condition: You must become like us by circumcising all your males.

For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision something that is outward in the flesh,but someone is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart by the Spirit and not by the written code. This person’s praise is not from people but from God.Therefore what advantage does the Jew have, or what is the value of circumcision?

For we consider that a person is declared righteous by faith apart from the works of the law.

“ When a foreigner lives with you and wants to observe the Passover to the LORD, all his males must be circumcised, and then he may approach and observe it, and he will be like one who is born in the land– but no uncircumcised person may eat of it.

Since God is one, he will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.

Those who want to make a good showing in external matters are trying to force you to be circumcised. They do so only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ.

At that time the LORD told Joshua,“ Make flint knives and circumcise the Israelites once again.”

But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off the foreskin of her son and touched it to Moses’ feet, and said,“ Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me.”

Therefore, cleanse your heart and stop being so stubborn!

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female– for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.

The LORD your God will also cleanse your heart and the hearts of your descendants so that you may love him with all your mind and being and so that you may live.
