But Abram said,“ Sovereign Lord, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?”

But Abram said,“ Lord and King, how can I know I will have this land as my own?”

But he said,“ O Lord God, how am I to know that I shall possess it?”

But Abram replied,“ O Sovereign Lord, how can I be sure that I will actually possess it?”

But he said,“ Lord God, how may I know that I will possess it?”

And he said,“ Lord GOD, how shall I know that I will inherit it?”

And he said, O Lord Jehovah, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?

But he said,“ Lord God, how can I know that I will possess it?”

And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?

But Abram said,“ O sovereign LORD, by what can I know that I am to possess it?”

He said,“ Lord Yahweh, how will I know that I will inherit it?”

“ How can I know this?” Zechariah asked the angel.“ For I am an old man, and my wife is well along in years.”

Then Gideon said to God,“ If you will deliver Israel by me, as you said,I will put a wool fleece here on the threshing floor. If dew is only on the fleece, and all the ground is dry, I will know that you will deliver Israel by me, as you said.”And that is what happened. When he got up early in the morning, he squeezed the fleece and wrung dew out of it, filling a bowl with water.Gideon then said to God,“ Don’t be angry with me; let me speak one more time. Please allow me to make one more test with the fleece. Let it remain dry, and the dew be all over the ground.”That night God did as Gideon requested: only the fleece was dry, and dew was all over the ground.

Show me a sign of your goodness; my enemies will see and be put to shame because you, LORD, have helped and comforted me.

Hezekiah had asked Isaiah,“ What is the sign that the LORD will heal me and that I will go up to the LORD’s temple on the third day?”

“ Ask for a sign from the LORD your God— it can be as deep as Sheol or as high as heaven.”

Let me bring my gift and set it before you.” And he said,“ I will stay until you return.”So Gideon went and prepared a young goat and unleavened bread from a half bushel of flour. He placed the meat in a basket and the broth in a pot. He brought them out and offered them to him under the oak.The angel of God said to him,“ Take the meat with the unleavened bread, put it on this stone, and pour the broth on it.” So he did that.The angel of the LORD extended the tip of the staff that was in his hand and touched the meat and the unleavened bread. Fire came up from the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. Then the angel of the LORD vanished from his sight.When Gideon realized that he was the angel of the LORD, he said,“ Oh no, Lord GOD! I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face!”But the LORD said to him,“ Peace to you. Don’t be afraid, for you will not die.”So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it The LORD Is Peace. It is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites today.

If they say,‘ Wait until we reach you,’ then we will stay where we are and not go up to them.But if they say,‘ Come on up,’ then we’ll go up, because the LORD has handed them over to us— that will be our sign.”
