After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:“ Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

Some time later, Abram had a vision. The Lord said to him,“ Abram, do not be afraid. I am like a shield to you. I am your very great reward.”

After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:“ Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”

You are my hiding place and my shield. I hope in your word.

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

For Yahweh God is a sun and a shield. Yahweh will give grace and glory. He withholds no good thing from those who walk blamelessly.

Yahweh appeared to him the same night, and said,“ I am the God of Abraham your father. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake.”

“ Yahweh is my portion,” says my soul.“ Therefore I will hope in him.”

Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said,“ I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.”So that with good courage we say,“ The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

Don’t be afraid, you worm Jacob, and you men of Israel. I will help you,” says Yahweh.“ Your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

“ There is no one like God, Jeshurun, who rides on the heavens for your help, in his excellency on the skies.The eternal God is your dwelling place. Underneath are the everlasting arms. He thrust out the enemy from before you, and said,‘ Destroy!’Israel dwells in safety, the fountain of Jacob alone, In a land of grain and new wine. Yes, his heavens drop down dew.You are happy, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by Yahweh, the shield of your help, the sword of your excellency? Your enemies will submit themselves to you. You will tread on their high places.”

Don’t be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.

The angel said to her,“ Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.

Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or scared of them; for Yahweh your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you.”

May Yahweh repay your work, and a full reward be given to you from Yahweh, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”

I will also judge that nation, whom they will serve. Afterward they will come out with great wealth;but you will go to your fathers in peace. You will be buried at a good old age.In the fourth generation they will come here again, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full.”

But the angel said to him,“ Don’t be afraid, Zacharias, because your request has been heard, and your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?

For you will bless the righteous. Yahweh, you will surround him with favor as with a shield.

Yahweh assigned my portion and my cup. You made my lot secure.The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places. Yes, I have a good inheritance.

God heard the voice of the boy. The angel of God called to Hagar out of the sky, and said to her,“ What troubles you, Hagar? Don’t be afraid. For God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.

I cried to you, Yahweh. I said,“ You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, even a great warfare. He understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three whole weeks.I ate no pleasant bread. No meat or wine came into my mouth. I didn’t anoint myself at all, until three whole weeks were fulfilled.In the twenty- fourth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel,I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold, there was a man clothed in linen, whose thighs were adorned with pure gold of Uphaz.His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as flaming torches. His arms and his feet were like burnished bronze. The voice of his words was like the voice of a multitude.I, Daniel, alone saw the vision; for the men who were with me didn’t see the vision; but a great quaking fell on them, and they fled to hide themselves.So I was left alone, and saw this great vision. No strength remained in me; for my face grew deathly pale, and I retained no strength.Yet I heard the voice of his words. When I heard the voice of his words, then I fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face toward the ground.Behold, a hand touched me, which set me on my knees and on the palms of my hands.He said to me,“ Daniel, you greatly beloved man, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright; for I have been sent to you, now.” When he had spoken this word to me, I stood trembling.Then he said to me,“ Don’t be afraid, Daniel; for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. I have come for your words’ sake.But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty- one days; but, behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me because I remained there with the kings of Persia.Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days; for the vision is yet for many days.”When he had spoken these words to me, I set my face toward the ground, and was mute.Behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips. Then I opened my mouth, and spoke and said to him who stood before me,“ My lord, by reason of the vision my sorrows have overtaken me, and I retain no strength.

But now Yahweh who created you, Jacob, and he who formed you, Israel, says:“ Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine.

The Spirit lifted me up, and brought me in the vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to the captives. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.

“ Every word of God is flawless. He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,

( In earlier times in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, he said,“ Come! Let’s go to the seer;” for he who is now called a prophet was before called a seer.)

He said,“ Now hear my words. If there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream.

David said to Solomon his son,“ Be strong and courageous, and do it. Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed; for Yahweh God, even my God, is with you. He will not fail you, nor forsake you, until all the work for the service of Yahweh’s house is finished.

I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying,“ Behold, God’s dwelling is with people, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away.”

He said to me,“ Son of man, go to the house of Israel, and speak my words to them.

When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me, saying,“ Don’t be afraid. I am the first and the last,

whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. All are yours,

He said to them,“ Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm.

Wicked people earn deceitful wages, but one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. I will bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from the west.

“ I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you, that you are afraid of man who shall die, and of the son of man who will be made as grass?

He became hungry and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.He saw heaven opened and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet let down by four corners on the earth,in which were all kinds of four- footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.A voice came to him,“ Rise, Peter, kill and eat!”But Peter said,“ Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”A voice came to him again the second time,“ What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean.”This was done three times, and immediately the vessel was received up into heaven.Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood before the gate,

Now in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.“ Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father’s will,but the very hairs of your head are all numbered.Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.

Behold, God our shield, look at the face of your anointed.

He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart.

Moses said to the people,“ Don’t be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh, which he will work for you today; for you will never again see the Egyptians whom you have seen today.

Tell those who have a fearful heart,“ Be strong! Don’t be afraid! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, God’s retribution. He will come and save you.

This is what Yahweh who made you, and formed you from the womb, who will help you says:“ Don’t be afraid, Jacob my servant; and you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

They said,“ Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.”

Don’t fear, neither be afraid. Haven’t I declared it to you long ago, and shown it? You are my witnesses. Is there a God besides me? Indeed, there is not. I don’t know any other Rock.”

The angel answered the women,“ Don’t be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who has been crucified.
