After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:“ Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

Some time later, Abram had a vision. The Lord said to him,“ Abram, do not be afraid. I am like a shield to you. I am your very great reward.”

After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:“ Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”

You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.

And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said,“ I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake.”

“ The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,“ Therefore I hope in Him!”

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said,“ I will never leave you nor forsake you.”So we may boldly say:“ The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

“ Fear not, you worm Jacob, You men of Israel! I will help you,” says the Lord And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

“ There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, Who rides the heavens to help you, And in His excellency on the clouds.The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, And will say,‘ Destroy!’Then Israel shall dwell in safety, The fountain of Jacob alone, In a land of grain and new wine; His heavens shall also drop dew.Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, The shield of your help And the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall submit to you, And you shall tread down their high places.”

“ Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Then the angel said to her,“ Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.

Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.”

And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions.Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age.But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”

But the angel said to him,“ Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

Then God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said,“ Jacob, Jacob!” And he said,“ Here I am.”So He said,“ I am God, the God of your father; do not fear to go down to Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there.

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. The message was true, but the appointed time was long; and he understood the message, and had understanding of the vision.In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks.I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.Now on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, that is, the Tigris,I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, a certain man clothed in linen, whose waist was girded with gold of Uphaz!His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like torches of fire, his arms and feet like burnished bronze in color, and the sound of his words like the voice of a multitude.And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision; but a great terror fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.Therefore I was left alone when I saw this great vision, and no strength remained in me; for my vigor was turned to frailty in me, and I retained no strength.Yet I heard the sound of his words; and while I heard the sound of his words I was in a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground.Suddenly, a hand touched me, which made me tremble on my knees and on the palms of my hands.And he said to me,“ O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling.Then he said to me,“ Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come.”When he had spoken such words to me, I turned my face toward the ground and became speechless.And suddenly, one having the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke, saying to him who stood before me,“ My Lord, because of the vision my sorrows have overwhelmed me, and I have retained no strength.

But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel:“ Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.

Then the Spirit took me up and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to those in captivity. And the vision that I had seen went up from me.

Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

( Formerly in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, he spoke thus:“ Come, let us go to the seer”; for he who is now called a prophet was formerly called a seer.)

Then He said,“ Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream.

And David said to his son Solomon,“ Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God— my God— will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.

And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying,“ Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Then He said to me:“ Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them.

And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me,“ Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.

whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come— all are yours.

But He said to them,“ Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

The wicked man does deceptive work, But he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward.

Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east, And gather you from the west;

“ I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?

Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a tranceand saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth.In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.And a voice came to him,“ Rise, Peter; kill and eat.”But Peter said,“ Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.”And a voice spoke to him again the second time,“ What God has cleansed you must not call common.”This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.Now while Peter wondered within himself what this vision which he had seen meant, behold, the men who had been sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate.

Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the River Chebar, that the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

O God, behold our shield, And look upon the face of Your anointed.

He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

And Moses said to the people,“ Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.

Say to those who are fearful-hearted,“ Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.”

Thus says the Lord who made you And formed you from the womb, who will help you:‘ Fear not, O Jacob My servant; And you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

And they said,“ Cornelius the centurion, a just man, one who fears God and has a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was divinely instructed by a holy angel to summon you to his house, and to hear words from you.”

Do not fear, nor be afraid; Have I not told you from that time, and declared it? You are My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one.’”

But the angel answered and said to the women,“ Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
