After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision:“ Fear not, Abram! I am your shield and the one who will reward you in great abundance.”

After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:“ Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

Some time later, Abram had a vision. The Lord said to him,“ Abram, do not be afraid. I am like a shield to you. I am your very great reward.”

After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:“ Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”

Some time later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him,“ Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.”

After these things Yahweh’s word came to Abram in a vision, saying,“ Don’t be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”

You are my hiding place and my shield. I find hope in your word.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you– yes, I help you– yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!

For the LORD God is our sovereign protector. The LORD bestows favor and honor; he withholds no good thing from those who have integrity.

The LORD appeared to him that night and said,“ I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”

“ My portion is the Lord,” I have said to myself, so I will put my hope in him.ט( Tet)

Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for he has said,“ I will never leave you and I will never abandon you.”So we can say with confidence,“ The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”

Don’t be afraid, despised insignificant Jacob, men of Israel. I am helping you,” says the LORD, your protector, the Holy One of Israel.

The LORD is my high ridge, my stronghold, my deliverer. My God is my rocky summit where I take shelter, my shield, the horn that saves me, and my refuge.

There is no one like God, O Jeshurun, who rides through the sky to help you, on the clouds in majesty.The everlasting God is a refuge, and underneath you are his eternal arms; he has driven out enemies before you, and has said,“ Destroy!”Israel lives in safety, the fountain of Jacob is quite secure, in a land of grain and new wine; indeed, its heavens rain down dew.You have joy, Israel! Who is like you? You are a people delivered by the LORD, your protective shield and your exalted sword. May your enemies cringe before you; may you trample on their backs.

“ Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is well pleased to give you the kingdom.

So the angel said to her,“ Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God!

But you, LORD, are a shield that protects me; you are my glory and the one who restores me.

Be strong and courageous! Do not fear or tremble before them, for the LORD your God is the one who is going with you. He will not fail you or abandon you!”

May the LORD reward your efforts! May your acts of kindness be repaid fully by the LORD God of Israel, from whom you have sought protection!”

But I will execute judgment on the nation that they will serve. Afterward they will come out with many possessions.But as for you, you will go to your ancestors in peace and be buried at a good old age.In the fourth generation your descendants will return here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its limit.”

But the angel said to him,“ Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son; you will name him John.

The LORD delivers and vindicates me! I fear no one! The LORD protects my life! I am afraid of no one!

Certainly you reward the godly, LORD. Like a shield you protect them in your good favor.

LORD, you give me stability and prosperity; you make my future secure.It is as if I have been given fertile fields or received a beautiful tract of land.

But God heard the boy’s voice. The angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and asked her,“ What is the matter, Hagar? Don’t be afraid, for God has heard the boy’s voice right where he is crying.

I cry out to you, O LORD; I say,“ You are my shelter, my security in the land of the living.”

Then observers will say,“ Yes indeed, the godly are rewarded! Yes indeed, there is a God who judges in the earth!”

God spoke to Israel in a vision during the night and said,“ Jacob, Jacob!” He replied,“ Here I am!”He said,“ I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.

In the third year of King Cyrus of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel( who was also called Belteshazzar). This message was true and concerned a great war. He understood the message and gained insight by the vision.In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three whole weeks.I ate no choice food; no meat or wine came to my lips, nor did I anoint myself with oil until the end of those three weeks.On the twenty-fourth day of the first month I was beside the great river, the Tigris.I looked up and saw a man clothed in linen; around his waist was a belt made of gold from Upaz.His body resembled yellow jasper, and his face had an appearance like lightning. His eyes were like blazing torches; his arms and feet had the gleam of polished bronze. His voice thundered forth like the sound of a large crowd.Only I, Daniel, saw the vision; the men who were with me did not see it. On the contrary, they were overcome with fright and ran away to hide.I alone was left to see this great vision. My strength drained from me, and my vigor disappeared; I was without energy.I listened to his voice, and as I did so I fell into a trance-like sleep with my face to the ground.Then a hand touched me and set me on my hands and knees.He said to me,“ Daniel, you are of great value. Understand the words that I am about to speak to you. So stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” When he said this to me, I stood up shaking.Then he said to me,“ Don’t be afraid, Daniel, for from the very first day you applied your mind to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. I have come in response to your words.However, the prince of the kingdom of Persia was opposing me for twenty-one days. But Michael, one of the leading princes, came to help me, because I was left there with the kings of Persia.Now I have come to help you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision pertains to future days.”While he was saying this to me, I was flat on the ground and unable to speak.Then one who appeared to be a human being was touching my lips. I opened my mouth and started to speak, saying to the one who was standing before me,“ Sir, due to the vision, anxiety has gripped me and I have no strength.

Now, this is what the LORD says, the one who created you, O Jacob, and formed you, O Israel:“ Don’t be afraid, for I will protect you. I call you by name, you are mine.

Then a wind lifted me up and carried me to the exiles in Babylonia, in the vision given to me by the Spirit of God. Then the vision I had seen went up from me.

Every word of God is purified; he is like a shield for those who take refuge in him.

After God spoke long ago in various portions and in various ways to our ancestors through the prophets,

( Now it used to be in Israel that whenever someone went to inquire of God he would say,“ Come on, let’s go to the seer.” For today’s prophet used to be called a seer.)

The LORD said,“ Hear now my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known to him in a vision; I will speak with him in a dream.

David said to his son Solomon:“ Be strong and brave! Do it! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic! For the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not leave you or abandon you before all the work for the service of the LORD’s temple is finished.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying:“ Look! The residence of God is among human beings. He will live among them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them.He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will not exist any more– or mourning, or crying, or pain, for the former things have ceased to exist.”

He said to me,“ Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak my words to them.

When I saw him I fell down at his feet as though I were dead, but he placed his right hand on me and said:“ Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last,

whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future. Everything belongs to you,

But he said to them,“ Why are you cowardly, you people of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was dead calm.

The wicked person earns deceitful wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a genuine reward.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. From the east I will bring your descendants; from the west I will gather you.

“ I, I am the one who consoles you. Why are you afraid of mortal men, of mere human beings who are as short-lived as grass?

He became hungry and wanted to eat, but while they were preparing the meal, a trance came over him.He saw heaven opened and an object something like a large sheet descending, being let down to earth by its four corners.In it were all kinds of four- footed animals and reptiles of the earth and wild birds.Then a voice said to him,“ Get up, Peter; slaughter and eat!”But Peter said,“ Certainly not, Lord, for I have never eaten anything defiled and ritually unclean!”The voice spoke to him again, a second time,“ What God has made clean, you must not consider ritually unclean!”This happened three times, and immediately the object was taken up into heaven.Now while Peter was puzzling over what the vision he had seen could signify, the men sent by Cornelius had learned where Simon’s house was and approached the gate.

In the thirtieth year, on the fifth day of the fourth month, while I was among the exiles at the Kebar River, the heavens opened and I saw a divine vision.

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.Even all the hairs on your head are numbered.So do not be afraid; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

O God, take notice of our shield! Show concern for your chosen king!

He will shelter you with his wings; you will find safety under his wings. His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall.

Moses said to the people,“ Do not fear! Stand firm and see the salvation of the LORD that he will provide for you today; for the Egyptians that you see today you will never, ever see again.

Tell those who panic,“ Be strong! Do not fear! Look, your God comes to avenge! With divine retribution he comes to deliver you.”

This is what the LORD, the one who made you, says– the one who formed you in the womb and helps you:“ Don’t be afraid, my servant Jacob, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen!

They said,“ Cornelius the centurion, a righteous and God- fearing man, well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to summon you to his house and to hear a message from you.”

Don’t panic! Don’t be afraid! Did I not tell you beforehand and decree it? You are my witnesses! Is there any God but me? There is no other sheltering rock; I know of none.

But the angel said to the women,“ Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
