After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:“ Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

Some time later, Abram had a vision. The Lord said to him,“ Abram, do not be afraid. I am like a shield to you. I am your very great reward.”

Some time later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him,“ Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.”

After these events, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield; your reward will be very great.

You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word.

fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.

And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said,“ I am the God of Abraham your father. Fear not, for I am with you and will bless you and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake.”

“ The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,“ therefore I will hope in him.”

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said,“ I will never leave you nor forsake you.”So we can confidently say,“ The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I am the one who helps you, declares the Lord; your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

“ There is none like God, O Jeshurun, who rides through the heavens to your help, through the skies in his majesty.The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. And he thrust out the enemy before you and said,‘ Destroy.’So Israel lived in safety, Jacob lived alone, in a land of grain and wine, whose heavens drop down dew.Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, the shield of your help, and the sword of your triumph! Your enemies shall come fawning to you, and you shall tread upon their backs.”

“ Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

And the angel said to her,“ Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.

The Lord repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge!”

But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward they shall come out with great possessions.As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age.And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”

But the angel said to him,“ Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield.

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a word was revealed to Daniel, who was named Belteshazzar. And the word was true, and it was a great conflict. And he understood the word and had understanding of the vision.In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three weeks.I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeks.On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was standing on the bank of the great river( that is, the Tigris)I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, a man clothed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist.His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a multitude.And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision, but a great trembling fell upon them, and they fled to hide themselves.So I was left alone and saw this great vision, and no strength was left in me. My radiant appearance was fearfully changed, and I retained no strength.Then I heard the sound of his words, and as I heard the sound of his words, I fell on my face in deep sleep with my face to the ground.And behold, a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees.And he said to me,“ O Daniel, man greatly loved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for now I have been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling.Then he said to me,“ Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words.The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia,and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come.”When he had spoken to me according to these words, I turned my face toward the ground and was mute.And behold, one in the likeness of the children of man touched my lips. Then I opened my mouth and spoke. I said to him who stood before me,“ O my lord, by reason of the vision pains have come upon me, and I retain no strength.

But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel:“ Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.

And the Spirit lifted me up and brought me in the vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to the exiles. Then the vision that I had seen went up from me.

Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,

( Formerly in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, he said,“ Come, let us go to the seer,” for today’s“ prophet” was formerly called a seer.)

And he said,“ Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream.

Then David said to Solomon his son,“ Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,“ Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

And he said to me,“ Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with my words to them.

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying,“ Fear not, I am the first and the last,

whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future— all are yours,

And he said to them,“ Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward.

Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you.

“ I, I am he who comforts you; who are you that you are afraid of man who dies, of the son of man who is made like grass,

And he became hungry and wanted something to eat, but while they were preparing it, he fell into a tranceand saw the heavens opened and something like a great sheet descending, being let down by its four corners upon the earth.In it were all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air.And there came a voice to him:“ Rise, Peter; kill and eat.”But Peter said,“ By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”And the voice came to him again a second time,“ What God has made clean, do not call common.”This happened three times, and the thing was taken up at once to heaven.Now while Peter was inwardly perplexed as to what the vision that he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood at the gate

In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the exiles by the Chebar canal, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Behold our shield, O God; look on the face of your anointed!

He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

And Moses said to the people,“ Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.

Say to those who have an anxious heart,“ Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.”

Thus says the Lord who made you, who formed you from the womb and will help you: Fear not, O Jacob my servant, Jeshurun whom I have chosen.

And they said,“ Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who is well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and to hear what you have to say.”

Fear not, nor be afraid; have I not told you from of old and declared it? And you are my witnesses! Is there a God besides me? There is no Rock; I know not any.”

But the angel said to the women,“ Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
