Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High,

The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind,“ You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”

where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham as he was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth of all the spoils, was first of all, by the translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace.Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, he remains a priest perpetually.

just as He also says in another passage,“ You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”

being designated by God as High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek.

Now while they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said,“ Take, eat; this is My body.”And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying,“ Drink from it, all of you;for this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it with you, new, in My Father’s kingdom.”

She followed Paul and us and cried out repeatedly, saying,“ These men are bond servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you a way of salvation.”

I will give thanks to the Lord according to His righteousness And will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.

I will cry to God Most High, To God who accomplishes all things for me.

His tabernacle is in Salem; His dwelling place also is in Zion.

Then he said,“ May you be blessed of the Lord, my daughter. You have shown your last kindness to be better than the first, by not going after young men, whether poor or rich.

With what shall I come to the Lord And bow myself before the God on high? Shall I come to Him with burnt offerings, With yearling calves?

for he was still in the loins of his forefather when Melchizedek met him.So if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood( for on the basis of it the people received the Law), what further need was there for another priest to arise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be designated according to the order of Aaron?For when the priesthood is changed, of necessity there takes place a change of law also.For the one about whom these things are said belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar.For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses said nothing concerning priests.And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek,who has become a priest not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life.For it is attested of Him,“ You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”For, on the one hand, there is the nullification of a former commandment because of its weakness and uselessness( for the Law made nothing perfect); on the other hand, there is the introduction of a better hope, through which we come near to God.And to the extent that it was not without an oath( for they indeed became priests without an oath, but He with an oath through the One who said to Him,“ The Lord has sworn And will not change His mind,‘ You are a priest forever’ ”);by the same extent Jesus also has become the guarantee of a better covenant.

However, the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands; as the prophet says:

So then, while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.

Offer God a sacrifice of thanksgiving And pay your vows to the Most High;

So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh gilead, and said to them,“ May you be blessed of the Lord because you have shown this kindness to Saul your lord, and have buried him.
