總括來說，你們要彼此同心，互相體恤，親愛像弟兄，滿有溫柔，存心謙卑。不要以惡報惡，以辱罵還辱罵，倒要祝福，因為你們就是為此蒙召，好叫你們承受福氣。因為“凡希望享受人生，要看見好日子的，就要禁止舌頭不出惡言，嘴唇不說詭詐的話；也要離惡行善，尋找並追求和睦。因為主的眼睛看顧義人，他的耳朵垂聽他們的呼求；但主的臉敵對作惡的人。”

可能的話，總要盡你們的所能與人和睦。

你們彼此告狀，已經是你們的失敗了。為甚麼不寧願受委屈呢？為甚麼不甘心吃虧呢？

我希望有和平，但我一說話，他們就要爭戰。

你們中間誰是有智慧、有見識的呢？他就應當有美好的生活，用明智的溫柔，把自己的行為表現出來。如果你們心中存著刻薄的嫉妒和自私，就不可誇口，也不可說謊抵擋真理。這種智慧不是從天上來的，而是屬地的、屬血氣的和屬鬼魔的。因為凡有嫉妒和自私的地方，就必有擾亂和各樣的壞事。至於從天上來的智慧，首先是純潔的，其次是和平的，溫柔的，謙遜的，滿有恩慈和善果，沒有偏袒，沒有虛偽。這是締造和平的人，用和平所培植出來的義果。
