基拉耳的牧人與以撒的牧人爭鬧起來，說：“這水是我們的。”以撒就給那井起名叫埃色，因為他們與他相爭。

你們在教外人中，應當品行端正，使那些人，雖然毀謗你們是作惡的，但因為看見你們的好行為，就要在鑒察的日子頌讚神。

有些牧人來了，把她們趕走；摩西卻起來，救了她們，也給她們的羊群喝水。

我又說：“你們這事作得不對。你們豈不應懷著敬畏我們神的心行事為人，免遭我們的仇敵外族人的毀謗嗎？

我們從前也是無知、不順服、受了迷惑、被各種私慾和逸樂所奴役，生活在惡毒和嫉妒之中，是可憎可惡的，並且互相仇視。

亞伯拉罕因亞比米勒的僕人強佔了一口水井，就指責亞比米勒。

你們要把握時機，用智慧與外人來往。

因為凡有嫉妒和自私的地方，就必有擾亂和各樣的壞事。

你們中間的爭執和打鬥是從哪裡來的呢？不是從你們肢體中好鬥的私慾來的嗎？

雅各對西緬和利未說：“你們連累了我，使我在這地的居民，就是在迦南人和比利洗人中間，成了可憎的人。我們人數不多，如果他們聯合起來對付我，攻擊我，我和我的家就必滅絕了。”

因為你們仍然是屬肉體的。在你們當中既然有嫉妒紛爭，你們不還是屬肉體，照著世人的方式而行嗎？

無論作甚麼，都不要發怨言、起爭論，好使你們無可指摘、純真無邪，在這彎曲乖謬的世代中，作神沒有瑕疵的兒女；你們要在這世代中發光，好像天上的光體一樣，

使你們行事為人可以得到外人的尊敬，自己也不會有甚麼缺乏了。

拜偶像、行邪術、仇恨、爭競、忌恨、忿怒、自私、分黨、結派、

就在那時候，耶和華與亞伯蘭立約說：“我已經把這地賜給你的後裔了，就是從埃及河直到幼發拉底河之地；就是基尼人、基尼洗人、甲摩尼人、赫人、比利洗人、利乏音人、亞摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人、耶布斯人之地。”

迦南人的境界是從西頓伸向基拉耳，直到迦薩；又伸向所多瑪、蛾摩拉、押瑪、洗扁，直到拉沙。
