耶和华向亚伯兰显现，说：“我要把这地赐给你的后裔。”亚伯兰就在那里为向他显现的耶和华筑了一座祭坛。后来他从那里迁到伯特利东边的山地，搭起帐棚。西边是伯特利，东边是艾城；他在那里也为耶和华筑了一座祭坛，呼求耶和华的名。

以色列对他说：“你去看看你的哥哥们是不是平安，羊群是不是平安，就回来告诉我。”于是打发他离开希伯仑谷，他就到示剑去了。

他们上到南地，到了希伯仑，在那里有亚衲族人的后裔亚希幔、示筛、挞买。原来希伯仑城比埃及的琐安城早建七年。

我常常把耶和华摆在我面前，因他在我右边，我必不会动摇。

撒拉死在迦南地的基列．亚巴，就是希伯仑；亚伯拉罕进去为撒拉哀恸哭号。

也是他筑头一座祭坛的地方，亚伯兰就在那里求告耶和华的名。

因此，我愿意男人没有忿怒，没有争论，举起圣洁的手随处祷告。

于是约书亚给迦勒祝福，把希伯仑赐给了耶孚尼的儿子迦勒作产业。
