Now the people of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord.

The people of Sodom were evil. They were sinning greatly against the Lord.

Now the men of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against the Lord.

But the people of this area were extremely wicked and constantly sinned against the Lord.

especially those who indulge their fleshly desires and who despise authority. Brazen and insolent, they are not afraid to insult the glorious ones,

So the LORD said,“ The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so blatant

Go and learn what this saying means:‘ I want mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

and if he turned to ashes the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah when he condemned them to destruction, having appointed them to serve as an example to future generations of the ungodly,and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man in anguish over the debauched lifestyle of lawless men,( for while he lived among them day after day, that righteous man was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)

So also Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring towns, since they indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire in a way similar to these angels, are now displayed as an example by suffering the punishment of eternal fire.

“ Do you really think anyone can hide himself where I cannot see him?” the LORD asks.“ Do you not know that I am everywhere?” the LORD asks.

Jerusalem certainly stumbles, Judah falls, for their words and their actions offend the LORD; they rebel against his royal authority.The look on their faces testifies to their guilt; like the people of Sodom they openly boast of their sin. Too bad for them! For they bring disaster on themselves.

and likewise the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed in their passions for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Your older sister was Samaria, who lived north of you with her daughters, and your younger sister, who lived south of you, was Sodom with her daughters.Have you not copied their behavior and practiced their abominable deeds? In a short time you became even more depraved in all your conduct than they were!As surely as I live, declares the sovereign LORD, your sister Sodom and her daughters never behaved as wickedly as you and your daughters have behaved.“‘ See here– this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters had majesty, abundance of food, and enjoyed carefree ease, but they did not help the poor and needy.They were haughty and practiced abominable deeds before me. Therefore when I saw it I removed them.

And no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account.

Before they could lie down to sleep, all the men– both young and old, from every part of the city of Sodom– surrounded the house.They shouted to Lot,“ Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them!”Lot went outside to them, shutting the door behind him.He said,“ No, my brothers! Don’t act so wickedly!Look, I have two daughters who have never had sexual relations with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do to them whatever you please. Only don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”“ Out of our way!” they cried, and“ This man came to live here as a foreigner, and now he dares to judge us! We’ll do more harm to you than to them!” They kept pressing in on Lot until they were close enough to break down the door.So the men inside reached out and pulled Lot back into the house as they shut the door.Then they struck the men who were at the door of the house, from the youngest to the oldest, with blindness. The men outside wore themselves out trying to find the door.

He was a mighty hunter before the LORD.( That is why it is said,“ Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD.”)

And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will be thrown down to Hades! For if the miracles done among you had been done in Sodom, it would have continued to this day.But I tell you, it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you!”

If the LORD who commands armies had not left us a few survivors, we would have quickly become like Sodom, we would have become like Gomorrah.

As Jesus was having a meal in Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with Jesus and his disciples.

The LORD sent you on a campaign saying,‘ Go and exterminate those sinful Amalekites! Fight against them until you have destroyed them.’

He passed his son through the fire and practiced divination and omen reading. He set up a ritual pit to conjure up underworld spirits, and appointed magicians to supervise it. He did a great amount of evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger.

Then they summoned the man who used to be blind a second time and said to him,“ Promise before God to tell the truth. We know that this man is a sinner.”

In the fourth generation your descendants will return here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its limit.”

We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is devout and does his will, God listens to him.

But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was evil in the LORD’s sight, so the LORD killed him.

The earth was ruined in the sight of God; the earth was filled with violence.
