Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well- watered everywhere, before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.

Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt.( This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)

Lot looked around. He saw that the whole Jordan River valley toward the town of Zoar had plenty of water. It was like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt. This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of Zoar.( This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)

Lot took a long look at the fertile plains of the Jordan Valley in the direction of Zoar. The whole area was well watered everywhere, like the garden of the Lord or the beautiful land of Egypt.( This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)

Lot looked out and saw that the entire plain of the Jordan as far as Zoar was well watered everywhere like the LORD’s garden and the land of Egypt.( This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)

Lot raised his eyes and saw all the vicinity of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere— this was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah— like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt going toward Zoar.

Lot looked up and saw the whole region of the Jordan. He noticed that all of it was well-watered( before the LORD obliterated Sodom and Gomorrah) like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, all the way to Zoar.

and the south, and the Plain of the valley of Jericho the city of palm trees, to Zoar.

The king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela( also called Zoar) went out; and they set the battle in array against them in the valley of Siddim

For Yahweh has comforted Zion. He has comforted all her waste places, and has made her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Yahweh. Joy and gladness will be found in them, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

A fire devours before them, and behind them, a flame burns. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them, a desolate wilderness. Yes, and no one has escaped them.

they made war with Bera, king of Sodom; Birsha, king of Gomorrah; Shinab, king of Admah; Shemeber, king of Zeboiim; and the king of Bela( also called Zoar).

Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of livestock. They saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead. Behold, the place was a place for livestock.Then the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,“ Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon,the land which Yahweh struck before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock; and your servants have livestock.”They said,“ If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession. Don’t bring us over the Jordan.”Moses said to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben,“ Shall your brothers go to war while you sit here?Why do you discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which Yahweh has given them?Your fathers did so when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to see the land.For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which Yahweh had given them.Yahweh’s anger burned in that day, and he swore, saying,‘ Surely none of the men who came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me,except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, because they have followed Yahweh completely.’Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he made them wander back and forth in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation who had done evil in Yahweh’s sight was consumed.“ Behold, you have risen up in your fathers’ place, an increase of sinful men, to increase the fierce anger of Yahweh toward Israel.For if you turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and you will destroy all these people.”They came near to him, and said,“ We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones;but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel, until we have brought them to their place. Our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.We will not return to our houses until the children of Israel have all received their inheritance.For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance has come to us on this side of the Jordan eastward.”Moses said to them:“ If you will do this thing, if you will arm yourselves to go before Yahweh to the war,and every one of your armed men will pass over the Jordan before Yahweh until he has driven out his enemies from before him,and the land is subdued before Yahweh; then afterward you shall return, and be clear of obligation to Yahweh and to Israel. Then this land shall be your possession before Yahweh.“ But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against Yahweh; and be sure your sin will find you out.Build cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which has proceeded out of your mouth.”The children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying,“ Your servants will do as my lord commands.Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our livestock shall be there in the cities of Gilead;but your servants will pass over, every man who is armed for war, before Yahweh to battle, as my lord says.”So Moses commanded concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers’ households of the tribes of the children of Israel.Moses said to them,“ If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man who is armed to battle before Yahweh, and the land is subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession;but if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.”The children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying,“ As Yahweh has said to your servants, so will we do.We will pass over armed before Yahweh into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan.”Moses gave to them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and to the half- tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan; the land, according to its cities and borders, even the cities of the surrounding land.The children of Gad built Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,Atroth- shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah,Beth Nimrah, and Beth Haran: fortified cities and folds for sheep.The children of Reuben built Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim,Nebo, and Baal Meon,( their names being changed), and Sibmah. They gave other names to the cities which they built.The children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, took it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were therein.Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh; and he lived therein.Jair the son of Manasseh went and took its villages, and called them Havvoth Jair.Nobah went and took Kenath and its villages, and called it Nobah, after his own name.

The king cast them in the plain of the Jordan, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zarethan.

Yahweh God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.Out of the ground Yahweh God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food, including the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.A river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became the source of four rivers.

You were in Eden, the garden of God. Every precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz, emerald, chrysolite, onyx, jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and beryl. Gold work of tambourines and of pipes was in you. They were prepared in the day that you were created.

From the cry of Heshbon even to Elealeh, even to Jahaz they have uttered their voice, from Zoar even to Horonaim, to Eglath Shelishiyah; for the waters of Nimrim will also become desolate.

God’s sons saw that men’s daughters were beautiful, and they took any that they wanted for themselves as wives.

When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took some of its fruit, and ate. Then she gave some to her husband with her, and he ate it, too.

The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it. The cypress trees were not like its boughs. The pine trees were not as its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty.

It came to pass, when they had taken them out, that he said,“ Escape for your life! Don’t look behind you, and don’t stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be consumed!”Lot said to them,“ Oh, not so, my lord.See now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your loving kindness, which you have shown to me in saving my life. I can’t escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me, and I die.See now, this city is near to flee to, and it is a little one. Oh let me escape there( isn’t it a little one?), and my soul will live.”He said to him,“ Behold, I have granted your request concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.Hurry, escape there, for I can’t do anything until you get there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar.Then Yahweh rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah sulfur and fire from Yahweh out of the sky.He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew on the ground.But Lot’s wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.Abraham went up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before Yahweh.He looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and saw that the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace.When God destroyed the cities of the plain, God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the middle of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.Lot went up out of Zoar, and lived in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar. He lived in a cave with his two daughters.

My heart cries out for Moab! Her nobles flee to Zoar, to Eglath Shelishiyah; for they go up by the ascent of Luhith with weeping; for on the way to Horonaim, they raise up a cry of destruction.

and a fruitful land into a salt waste, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it.
