The Lord appeared to Abram and said,“ To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

The Lord appeared to Abram at Shechem. He said,“ I will give this land to your family who comes after you.” So Abram built an altar there to honor the Lord, who had appeared to him.

Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said,“ To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said,“ I will give this land to your descendants.” And Abram built an altar there and dedicated it to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. (niv)

The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say“ and to seeds,” meaning many people, but“ and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ. (niv)

All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. (niv)

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out of Egypt, and go up to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying,‘ I will give it to your descendants.’ (niv)

and where he had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the Lord. (niv)

So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying,“ It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.” (niv)

From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord. (niv)

‘ Because they have not followed me wholeheartedly, not one of those who were twenty years old or more when they came up out of Egypt will see the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob— (niv)

Isaac built an altar there and called on the name of the Lord. There he pitched his tent, and there his servants dug a well. (niv)

So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the Lord. (niv)

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. (niv)

and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (niv)

See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give to your fathers— to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob— and to their descendants after them.” (niv)

There above it stood the Lord, and he said:“ I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. (niv)

Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise. (niv)

Abram fell facedown, and God said to him, (niv)

When the Lord your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you— a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build, (niv)

Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. (niv)

When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. (niv)

Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham. (niv)

I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the Lord I did not make myself fully known to them. (niv)

In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring. (niv)

There he set up an altar and called it El Elohe Israel. (niv)

On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said,“ To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates— (niv)
