這兩座山豈不是在約但河那邊、日落的方向，就是西邊，在住亞拉巴的迦南人之地、吉甲對面、靠近神諭的篤耨香樹麼？

他們就把手裏所有的外人神像、和他們耳朵上的環子給了雅各；雅各把這些東西都埋在示劍附近的聖篤耨香樹底下。

因着信、他僑居在應許之地做外人，在帳棚裏居住；跟同做後嗣而承受這同一應許的以撒雅各在一起；

牧養亞伯蘭牲畜的人和牧養羅得牲畜的人就起了紛爭。當時迦南人和比利洗人住在那地。

耶路巴力、就是基甸、他和所有跟隨的眾民、清早起來，在哈律泉旁邊紮營；米甸營在他們北邊，在山谷中、靠近摩利山岡。

亞瓦底人、洗瑪利人、哈馬人，後來迦南的宗族分散了。迦南的境界是從西頓，經過基拉耳，直到迦薩；又經過所多瑪、蛾摩拉、押瑪、洗扁、直到拉沙。

於是到了撒瑪利亞的一座城叫敘加，鄰近雅各給他兒子約瑟的那塊園地；

雅各從巴旦亞蘭回來的時候，平平安安地來到迦南地的示劍城，在城的東面支帳棚。

以色列人從埃及帶上來的約瑟骸骨、他們給埋葬在示劍，在雅各從前用一百塊銀錠從示劍的祖哈抹的子孫買得的那份田地；這就作了約瑟子孫的產業。

耶路巴力的兒子亞比米勒到了示劍去見他的眾母舅，對他們、和他母親父系家屬的全宗族講話說：

迦南生了長子西頓，又生赫、

於是以色列人在拿弗他利山地把在加利利的基低斯分別出來，在以法蓮山把示劍分別出來，在猶大山地把基列亞巴、就是希伯崙、分別出來。

羅波安往示劍去；因為以色列眾人都到了示劍、要立他作王。

就在那一天，永恆主就同亞伯蘭立了約說：『這地我已經給了你的後裔了：就是從埃及河直到大河、就是伯拉河、那一帶：就是基尼人、基尼洗人、甲摩尼人、赫人、比利洗人、高身漢種的人、亞摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人、耶布斯人、之地。』

那地的族長希未人、哈抹的兒子示劍、看見她，就拉住她，和她同寢，玷辱了她。

後來就遷運到敘劍，安放於亞伯拉罕在敘劍用價銀從哈抹的兒子購買過來的塋墓裏。
