耶路·巴力的兒子亞比米勒去示劍的舅舅家，對外祖父全家說：

迦南生長子西頓和次子赫，

於是，民眾便設立拿弗他利山區加利利境內的基低斯、以法蓮山區的示劍和猶大山區的基列·亞巴，即希伯崙作為避難城。

羅波安前往示劍，因為以色列人都去了那裡，要立他為王。

就在那天，耶和華跟亞伯蘭立約，說：「我必將這片土地賜給你的後代，使他們得到從埃及河到幼發拉底河一帶的土地，就是基尼人、基尼洗人、甲摩尼人、赫人、比利洗人、利乏音人、亞摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人和耶布斯人的土地。」

當地首領希未人哈抹的兒子示劍看到她，就抓住她，強行玷污了她。

後來他們的遺體被帶回示劍，安葬在亞伯拉罕買自哈抹子孫的墓地裡。
