亞吉把大衛叫來，對他說：『我指着永活的永恆主來起誓：「你是正直人；你跟着我在軍營中出入、我看得很滿意；自從你來我這裏、直到如今、我未曾見過你有甚麼壞處；只是眾霸主卻不喜歡你。那麼你現在儘管回去，安心地去，免得你所作的、非利士人的霸王不喜歡。」大衛對亞吉說：『我作了甚麼呢？自從僕人在你面前以來、直到今日、你查出我有甚麼事情使我不去攻打我主我王的仇敵呢？』亞吉回答大衛說：『我知道你在我面前很好，如同神的使者一般；只是非利士人的統領卻說：「這人不可同我們上戰場」；故此你和你主上的僕人、就是同你一道來的、明日早晨要早早起來；去到我所分派你們去的地方，心裏不要懷着惡意，因為你在我面前總是好的；不過你們早晨要早早起來，天亮了就走。』於是大衛和跟隨的人清早起來，要在一早就走、回非利士人之地；非利士人也上耶斯列去了。

摩西送他岳父起身，他岳父就往本地去了。
