Perhaps God might be willing to change his mind and relent and turn from his fierce anger so that we might not die.”When God saw their actions– they turned from their evil way of living!– God relented concerning the judgment he had threatened them with and he did not destroy them.

Nineveh was like a pool of water throughout her days, but now her people are running away; she cries out:“ Stop! Stop!”– but no one turns back.

So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and went on his way. He went home and stayed in Nineveh.

Everyone who sees you will turn away from you in disgust; they will say,‘ Nineveh has been devastated! Who will lament for her?’ There will be no one to comfort you!”

The LORD will attack the north and destroy Assyria. He will make Nineveh a heap of ruins; it will be as barren as the desert.

So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and went on his way. He went home and stayed in Nineveh.

Ships will come from the coast of Kittim, and will afflict Asshur, and will afflict Eber, and he will also perish forever.”

Nevertheless the Kenite will be consumed. How long will Asshur take you away captive?”
